I used to do repos for a large G.M. leasing company here in Toronto in the period from 1998 to around 2010. I was their go to guy when a customer stopped paying for their vehicle. They would send me a fax after the account was 60 days behind, including all the details about the car and the customer. It usually took me a couple of days to run down the person, and usually the car was with them. I had duplicate keys, so once I found the car, I would start it and drive it a couple of blocks, park it and walk back to get my car, then call my tow truck guy to tow it back to the dealer. My motto was " no recovery, no invoice " so they only paid for success. My average invoice was $450 to $700, depending on how many times I had to go out looking for it, or if I had to go out of the Toronto area.
I recently got a call from the current President of that same leasing company, asking if I would like to come back to work for them ? I said no. Thanks but no thanks. I don't want to go out at 4 AM looking for cars, anymore. JimB.
