Did You Ever Switch Hairdressers

I think they’re used to customers moving on.

I’d been to one lady a few times and couldn’t get in so accepted a time with someone else. It was just as I was leaving, she turned around and gave me a dirty look. I didn’t even know she was there that day. I was sick of hearing about her kids’ hockey games so never returned.

I can relate to @Beezer's remarks. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, I switched hairdressers. I wasn't particularly happy with the old one. She went on leave and a new one was recommended to me due to her ability to cut men's hair. I love her and the way she cuts my hair. We talk about everything from politics to TV shows and everything in between. She's probably 35 years younger than me but we have great conversations and laugh a lot. My old hairdresser barely could barely hold a conversation. That would have been fine if I'd been happy with her haircuts.

The rub is, my old hairdresser came back and her chair is right behind my new hairdresser's. They are also friends who travel together! It was awkward at first but no word was ever said. I still ask her about her son and we still have brief conversations. Seems she still has plenty of satisfied clients.

Now, what was REALLY embarrassing is that someone in a Mini Cooper came barreling through the parking lot one day and almost hit me. I threw up my hands and mouthed WTF! Then one day I heard the owner of the shop talking about how she drives a Mini Cooper. I felt like sliding under the chair! Anyway, we chat a lot so 1) she doesn't remember it or 2) she let it slide since I've been a customer for 15 years.

Yes, the hair dresser I used to go to moved out of state, the other woman in the hair salon could only take me on Thurs at noon I did that once never came back
I've been going to Super Cuts for about 6 yrs, their prices are cheaper than the hair salon, very happy with the results

I’ve had the same hairdresser for more years than I can remember. We chat at the beginning and end of the appointment, but she’s blissfully quiet while she’s cutting! I don’t like to chat. I want to sit there with my eyes closed and enjoy the sensory experience!

I wouldn’t switch as I hate going to the hairdresser, fortunately mine is on the corner of the street where I live, and we have an agreement, I wash and condition my hair at home, rough dry it, run to the salon, she wets it, cuts it rough dries it and I’m done, she charges me a reasonable price and I give her a good tip, suits both of us

I'm going to try that! I quit going to hairdressers about ten years ago because I'm afraid of those sinks that cut into the back of your neck and give older women strokes. *

I can cut the front myself but my husband's work on the back leaves something to be desired. He tries, he likes the idea of saving $60, but he's left handed and has an astigmatism, so the back usually has an artistic slant.

Beauty parlor stroke syndrome can occur by having your head bent backward, or hyperextended, improperly or for a long period of time during a shampoo at the hair salon. Dr. Robert Coni, medical director of the stroke program at HCA Healthcare’s Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., explains that, because of this, the blood vessels in the back of your neck could become compressed or damaged (a tear) and result in a stroke. -- HCA Healthcare Today

I went to the same hairdresser for most of my adult life. The only reason I go to a different hairdresser now is my old hairdresser, who I considered a friend, died during the pandemic.

I decided to try a hairdresser closer to home. The first haircut was awful. I looked like Moe from the Three Stooges. I felt like I bore some responsibility for that as I had told her I was up for trying something different. I decided I’d give her another chance.
Second time was somewhat better. Third time was spot on. She cuts my hair exactly as I want.

I guess third time was the charm.

I just get a haircut whenever I decide I need one. About every 6-8 weeks is the norm. It doesn't matter much who does it. No2 all over inc beard, 'tache and monobrow. Not much can go wrong. If it's Turkish barber I ask they don't set fire to anything :ROFLMAO:
