Did You Read Comic Books?

Archie
Superman
Wonder Woman
Little Lulu

Later on....the romance comic books. My friends an I would cut out the dialog bubbles and tape them to our pictures of each other.

Glad i'm not the only one who remembers Katy Keene.

My three older sisters bought most of them (with babysitting money) of course they shared. But by the time i was 6 they didn't hold as much interest for me, in part because i could go thru them so quick and they rarely sparked the interesting trains of thought the books i was reading did, or even the literature in my sisters' school books (which i took to reading after helping one of them study for tests.

The exceptions in terms of holding my interest were both bought by my oldest sister (10 yrs age gap): The Crypt Keeper (Tales from the Crypt?) And does Mad Magazine Count as a comic? While i didn't get all the sociopolitical parodies when that young i knew enough to know Mad was referencing real life occurrences and issues. Hard not to hear the daily news when laying on living room floor reading a book as Dad listened.
Yes Mad counts simply bc I loved it and occasionally find one to read, and still love it!
