Dining out or dining in?

Yeah they are trying to be nice. Sometimes I go just for that reason..but I'd rather stay home. I see a lot of my kids. I'm a very fortunate woman in that way. I saw one just yesterday she came with her husband. I have 2 son in laws that are just like sons. I was also blessed that way. Yesterday my son in law came with bags and bags and bags of groceries. He said "Just wanted to save you some grocery shopping." It was such a very sweet and thoughtful thing to do. I do go watch my grandson's soccer games & other stuff. We're pretty close knit family. My favorite son in law lives in California though. I love that kid. He's such a neat guy. He calls me up on the phone maybe once every two weeks to blab. I don't tell anyone I have a favorite son in law though..it's a secret.

My sister is lucky with her son in law and daughters in law. She does have one favourite DIL. Her son in law is a fantastic guy - so helpful.

When I cook, I cook for one, and when you cook for one you don't always buy fresh. There's a lot of broccoli florets and boneless chicken strips in my freezer, and a big bag of rice (long grain) and a box of stale pasta in my cupboard.
Yep I do end up freezing a lot of things. Mainly bananas. I make 'ice cream' out of them later.

It really is a blessing when you get good ones. I lucked out.

They are very nice people. I'd like to see some of the mainland. I briefly saw Bangkok but I'd like to see the countryside. Not sure I can talk husband into it.

The island we stay on does have some very touristy areas but we stay in a quiet area and only go into the busy areas to shop or visit temples.
Annie I had loads of pictures of Thailand my father took ( he was military) . I had them on my old laptop that burned up. I was fascinated by the architecture. My father loves Thai food.

I probably have several thousand pics of Thailand by now! :) I love the architecture of the Buddhist temples. Real Thai food is nothing like the food you get at western Thai restaurants.

That's what my dad's photos were mainly of the temples. He had many photos of seaside locals on small boats.

If I was younger maybe I would move there, so long as there was plenty of AC for the heat...

In Chiang Mai, every afternoon just when I thought I could die from the heat, it rained for an hour or so. Like clockwork. It'd still be warm out but the rain cooled things off at least 10 degrees.

I often had to peel my clothes off. But I'd put on my bikini and jump in the pool.

I love dining out but it can add up if done too often. I don't have a sugar daddy to pay the bills, so I have to budget carefully, even for groceries. If a friend takes me out, I usually reciprocate by inviting them for a nice meal at my place.

I hope you aren't talking about me and my ex hahahaha Because he doesn't get any sugar out of me :D

No, no of course not you, BW. A knew a lady once who had an older admirer who took her out to eat at expensive places all the time and paid the bills. I never knew exactly what their 'arrangement' was and I never asked. But its something I was curious about it and maybe felt a little tempted in spite of my feminist principles.

I might be using the expression sugar daddy a bit too loosely, especially when I think of some of my friends with rich husbands when that expression always comes to mind.

I didn't really think you meant me ..but I kinda almost fit the profile hahahaha. Oh god. His ringtone used to be ' I just called to say I love you' Now it's Pink Floyd's ' Money, it's a gas Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash .." I have no shame :p

Oh, that's all perfectly OK, I'm just sorry I was so impractical and idealistic when I was younger. I think I would have been a lot happier with a rich guy. Live and learn.

He was really really poor when I met him. We were poor most of my marriage. Then he got money & decided I was too old for him. He went and married a 25 year old and now all he does is whine about her. Go figure :D

I believe in the UK people have an expression for that situation: the guy always wants a 'new cow'. Not to be taken literally mind you, I saw it on UK tv show, where the husbands had a have a 'new cow' every few years, but it happens everywhere. Especially after a guy gets successful, he wants his 'arm candy' or 'arm charm', here also called the trophy wife, something like a new fancy car. Not fair I say!

It isn't fair. That's why I take the money *grin*

Haven't heard that. Cow is not complementary here! Hen is okay in Scotland. A woman a married man has an affair with is called his 'fancy piece'.

Mine didn't have an affair. He just told me I plan on getting a a younger wife someday. I told him " Why wait? GTFO!"

My husband likes to joke that I'm a younger model than his first wife. She's two days older than me! LOL.
Well I feel just fine now & he has to worry about feeling 'old' for his new wife. Yep he gets to see how he made me feel. So strange & funny how these topics take us down other garden paths. :D

I like both...even though I am alone and going on 86 years I like to cook.
I have an upright freezer so make my own soups, muffins, cookies, etc.
Here at the senior's residence we can, and I do, go out each month, to
a pub one night, to a restaurant another and out for lunch as well.
Once in a while I will go down to the dining room here, especially if
they have a special night, last week it was St. Patrick's day, so we
had corn beef and cabbage, not my favourite but there were six of
us and I enjoyed eating with others.
