Diplomatic immunity is pretty standard but is being used to avoid consequences for serious crimes in the UK. Countries including Saudi Arabia and Mexico seem to be using the diplomatic immunity card to avoid criminal prosecution for such crimes as human trafficking and child pornography. They can be asked to leave the country.

Diplomats have also run up huge amounts of unpaid traffic tickets.
 

It's been an ongoing problem with us for years, some diplomats even being implicated in murder (google poisoned umbrella murder).

Successive lily-livered governments and politicians have failed to declare them personae non gtata ​and so they have multiplied.
