Disappointing...

I think I learned all the ads back then for kids were strictly junk scams and I was a tight wad with my allowance and money I earned at my job I worked when I was 9 years old.

I remember liking the Super Ball at first. But what they didn't show on the commercials was how pieces of it chipped off after a few days, especially when you bounced it on a surface that wasn't perfectly smooth.

There was a kids' program, where the host drew pictures and clues on the TV screen. If you were a kid with this special screen you could decipher the message. So I sent away for this 'special' thing. Again in ONLY 6-8 weeks ( I guess the mail was really slow in those days), it came. All it was was a piece of soft plastic, on which you could use crayons.. I begged to be allowed to put it on our expensive TV set. My parents were a hard sell. Finally, I could. And the damn program went of the air. Never got to use it. Anybody know the name of it ? I think it was something like "Rinky Dinky"?

Chia Pet. On TV they look huge but in reality they aren't.
I got this when I was in my 30s so I was somewhat still a child.

I remember the Winky Dink screen. It took forever to come. When it finally arrived I couldn't wait for the show to go on the air.I carefully flattened it out on our TV screen and remember having trouble getting the bubbles out.

The moment had come. I was so disappointed because I couldn't keep up with the man drawing. I guess I was a bit to young for it.

Since I couldn't use it the way it was intended I flattened it out on my Moms beautifully polished red mahogany coffee table and drew pictures. I left it there over night and the next day found it almost impossible to remove. Once it was off it left a dull spot that no amount of waxing helped.

My Mom was so upset and the Winky Dink screen went in the garbage.
