Disqualified Driver Caught Almost 7 times the lLegal Limit

I can't believe the stupidity of these Morons, thank god he didn't kill anyone

COFFS Harbour has once again proven it's the drink driving capital of NSW.

Police have charged a driver after he recorded one of the state's highest breath test readings last night.

About 6.30pm, the 24-year-old man was driving a Nissan X-Trail along Ocean Pde when his vehicle mounted a kerb and hit a tree.

The man continued driving on the wrong side of the road before crashing into an unoccupied parked Toyota Landcruiser on the same road.

The man allegedly attempted to walk away from the crash scene but he was detained by a number of witnesses until local police arrived.

Police submitted the man to a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he underwent a follow-up breath analysis.

He returned an official reading of 0.331, which is almost seven times the legal limit.

A check of the Coffs Harbour man's licence revealed he had previously been disqualified from driving until 2016.

Police have charged him with high-range drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and drive recklessly/furiously or in a speed/manner dangerous.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on September 9.

Not sure if it's the 'drink driving capital', maybe they just catch more around here because there are fewer roads to cover.

I hear they're putting on late night buses to pick up and get the drunks home to the Northern Beaches towns instead of them being tempted to drive home from the Coffs pubs via the highway.
What they should be doing is what Newcastle did. Shut the pubs down earlier. They put a deadline on entry to pubs and bars so if they leave one after that time they can't get in to another. It's stopped the pub-crawling louts in their tracks. The crime rate dropped, the glassing and bashing injuries dropped, the behaviour improved to the point where locals actually got a little sleep at night. All good. Why don't all Councils do that?

We're a bit lucky here, have a pub within staggering distance of most of the town and they don't have to mix it with the traffic on the highway if they are stupid enough to drive... and it closes at 10pm.
I'm often grateful that the ones I hear going home past here are on foot.

That bloke should be locked up, forget bail, he's already proved he doesn't take the driving ban seriously so I wouldn't be giving him another chance to kill someone.

It's not much better here in SA ,it's like playing dodgem cars here, trying to avoid the idiots on the road.
