Do Famous People Only Die Around Christmas & New Year?

Is this the time of year for all famous people to die,
or can they go at any time throughout the year?

Why are we told (over here), who has passed away
in the last 12 months, it is very depressing, why don't
they tell us during the Summer?

I just find it strange that we need to be told this by
some person in the media, to lazy to look for some
real news.

I am sorry for those that have died and hope that
they do "Rest In Peace", but it is a bit depressing to
see lists of those who have gone.

Mike.

Interesting question. It's probably because a new year is seen as a kind of milestone, and the media take stock of all kinds of things that happened, with columns such as "best of" and "worst of." Showing who died is
just part of it. But I agree, it is kind of depressing to see how many famous people are no longer with us.

Yes, it IS an interesting thought. But, as Sunny said, this seems to be the time for the media to do all their year-end reviews of things that happened all year. They have done this for years, but what with the internet and all, is the year end wrap up kind of past it's prime now?

No, but all news outlets are on minimum staffing so any story, particularly an obit which is already mostly prepared and stored, can become a big story without moving from your desk.

I think we hear about celebrities passing away all year, when they happen. But it certainly does seem like we've lost a lot in the last month or two, doesn't it? A lot of people are depressed this time of year, for various reasons. I wonder if that contributes to ill health that causes a crisis?
