I suspect that women use pickup lines too, maybe more than men. But perhaps they aren't as obvious, more indirect, taking the form of small talk and very subtle compliments. Or being a dense guy perhaps I miss the actual attempts... while wondering if completely insignificant remarks might mean more when they don't?
But in this day and age I tend to shy away, worried about flubbing up or offending by saying something.
Do pick lines really work? No but a large number of people consider pickup lines as a sign of coolness. When in realty pickup lines are a sign of immaturity and lack of experience.
I can understand why some people might want to use pickup lines. However, you might as well approach the person and say "I only want a one-night stand. I'm not going to treat you well."
