Do the old rules still apply?

Not complaining, just noticing the changes in my life and wondering what, if any, changes in the old guidelines others may have noticed.

Do the old rules still apply?

Aunt Bea, I don't understand all of the new fangled rules, so the old rules still and always will apply to me.

Old fashioned? Yeh, definitely.

A stick in the mud? Probably.

A dynasaur? No, they are what I try to keep out of my cave. 😊

Metal roofs are dirt cheap and last exponentially longer than asphalt tiles.

10 years ago I had my neighbor put a metal roof on a small 1200 square foot home. $1600 for materials from Home Depot and I paid him $1000 for labor. He did it with a buddy in a day and a half. That's right, $2600 total. Yeah, materials have gone up significantly, but metal roofs are the only way to go. I'm getting ready to build another cabin with an aluminum frame and metal siding and roof. It will outlast me and my children
There are a few houses in the area here with metal roofs. I've never asked about one since I assumed they were very expensive. I've heard that if they are dented by hail, insurance won't cover that because it's considered cosmetic damage (won't leak). But I've never asked my insurance agent about it.
