Do We Have More Women Or Men On The Forum?

I agree. We can’t assume that all membership is honest about their gender. In fact, we can’t assume that all members are being honest with what they are posting. It’s the internet after all. No offence to the membership here.

But contrary to what you may have heard the vast majority are earthlings of the human persuasion.

Australia - Male to-female ratio of the total population

99.20(males per 100 females)in 2020
In 2020, male to female ratio in Australia was 99.2 males per 100 females. Before male to female ratio in Australia started to increase to reach a level of 99.2 males per 100 females in 2020, it went through a trough reaching a low of 98.99 males per 100 females in 1995.

But contrary to what you may have heard the vast majority are earthlings of the human persuasion.
And your point being? Does it matter what we actually call humans? My point is that not all are honest. It was not intended to be a personal insult to any one member regardless of gender.

But since I mentioned this you insinuate that I’m not human and from another plant? 🫤

That does more or less track the ratio in the population as a whole, in the US anyway.

First, I'll point out that an old head injury effects my ability to make sense of numbers, but that chart clearly shows that American women start outliving men at the age of 40, doesn't it?

I wonder why. Smoking? I bet more men smoke. Or maybe it's because men work more dangerous jobs. Or more stressful jobs. Well, both, probly.

hm

Is that a British euphemism? What does it mean?
Thanks Holly

It's an insult, but a jocular one. It's an idiom meaning, "ineffectual or weak, someone failing to show masculine strength or determination."

It was famously used by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and made headlines when he appeared to call Jeremy Corbyn, the then opposition leader, “a big girl’s blouse,” during his first Prime Minister’s Questions session.

While the term may sound strange to non-Brits, it has been around the UK for many years. First recorded (1969) in the television sitcom Nearest and Dearest, used by the character Nellie Pledge (played by comedienne Hylda Baker). It has been suggested that Baker had previously used this expression in her stage act.

I like it. It's funny like Boris. 😄

It pretty much shows that women have a lower death rate from birth. However there are more male babies than female so the ratio starts out with more male than female, by about age 40 due to higher death rates the ratios cross and from then on there are more women than men.

Good question as to why, probably a combination of reasons.

The same is generally true worldwide, not just in the US.
