Do you agree with this quote?

Gaer

"Angel whisperer"
"Give me success or it's eternal pursuit and I'll take the pursuit".

Which would you rather have?

I agree with the author, (don't know who wrote this) but the eternal pursuit,
IMO, would bring with it hope and an anticipation of wonderment.

What is YOUR opinion?

I'm too old and tired for "eternal pursuit" so, no.
Oh! I'm sorry! Sometimes I assume others agree life goes on into eternity.
I forget some people believe in nothing after this life.
Also, "Success" can be measured in many different ways.
That was presumptuous of me!

This is very similar to the myth of Sisyphus. He was condemned by the gods for eternity to roll a stone up a hill, only to have it roll back down just as he reached the top. In his essay The Myth of Sisyphus the philosopher Albert Camus ends with the line, "one must imagine Sisyphus happy."

The pursuit loses any meaning if one is aware they will not eventually succeed....or fail. I enjoy the pursuit as much as the end result, but unless I knew I'd either eventually succeed or fail, I would give it up.

Eternal pursuit is a given, so choice is irrelevant as far as I’m concerned and success is in the eye of the beholder. Success of what? Financial, domestic, parental, artistic, spiritual ????

Right. I've never cared much about success at anything. I pursue hobbies I enjoy even without the slightest hint at improvement. Case in point, I have played 34 games of online Hearts this month and won two. I usually do better, but I've been playing several games a day for five years, I should be a master by now. Who really cares so long as (like Camus imagines) we're happy?

I’m tired of being driven to success. I live to have fun but also keep my life balanced by doing things I need to do with things I want to do. My main goal these days is to just be happy and content. The rest can fall to the weigh side without much care. 🤷‍♀️
Having fun hobbies is a must though 😂
