Do you always use "drive thrus"?

Drive thrus are becoming a problem in some places, with traffic backing up onto streets, running over pedestrians, and if you live near one, gas fumes from all the idling cars. Do you usually use drive thrus, like pharmacies, fast food joints, etc? Or do you get out of your car and go into the store? Are always stuck in line at a drive thru? Would you save time, if you just went inside instead of the drive thru?

If the need arises, it depends on the way I feel. If the knees or other various body parts are hurting, then the drive-thru will be used. Sometimes the factor is time. But, I prefer to go inside cause the order is usually wrong. ;)

I do wish more kinds of stores had the option. I'm happy to see a couple of new restaurants with drive thru here. The ones built before the pandemic didn't have them.

If I'm only getting a prescription I will go through the drugstore drive thru but if I want other things, I go in although the option is available. Quite a few restaurants that started curbside during the pandemic have kept it. Sometimes I use that, sometimes I prefer to pick up inside.

We had one new fast food that caused traffic problems. They were made to close until they got their traffic pattern worked out. I haven't heard anything about traffic problems or nuisances from established fast food restaurants. Maybe it depends on where you live. We have plenty of room here and aren't tightly packed together like some cities. Residential areas and businesses are usually well separated so no complaints about gas fumes either.

rarely... really the only time I use the drive thru is when I'm getting KFC take-out, which is maybe twice or 3 times a year..otherwise I like to go into the store, rather than sit in a queue of traffic. We don't have the variety of Drive thru's that the USA have.. certainly no Drive thru' churches... it's mostly confined to Fast food outlets and Coffee shops.. and yes in some places they cause massive traffic problems

The only drive through I use is at the ATM, if the bank is closed. I drive up, turn my car off, get out and get the money. I also look over my shoulder to make certain there are no undesirables around.
I forgot about the drive thru ATMs. Almost all banks here also have multiple drive thru lanes handled by live cashiers and open later than the lobby is.

Like most of you, I prefer to go in to pharmacy or food place. Most times that’s faster anyway… which is counterintuitive but there you go

Only when travelling away from home by car when I'll use it at fast food places because I don't want to take the time for a proper meal. There seems to be a lot more drive-thru options in the US. We don't have drive thru pharmacies as far as I know & I rarely use cash so ATM visits are very few and far between. Drive thru beer or liquor in Canada? :ROFLMAO: We're still in the dark ages when it comes to liquor/beer sales.

Nothing says commitment like a drive-thru wedding
Years ago, my late sister and I booked a cab to take us to a bunch of wedding chapels in Las Vegas as we were looking for a good spot for my niece's wedding.

One of them had a drive-thru window. There was a wedding going on and we decided to take a peek. The bride and groom were sitting on the back of a convertible. The bride and groom were so drunk they could hardly stay upright. The bride was wearing "daisy dukes" cut-off jean shorts and a gold bikini top, along with an elaborate wedding veil. The groom was wearing a top hat and a black sweatshirt that said "F*** EVERYBODY" on the back.

Ah, yes, a marriage made in heaven. Or maybe the nearest bar. Very suitable for a drive-thru wedding.
