Do you believe in luck? Are you lucky?

We had a pilot who won a few million dollars on a lottery and that turned into a nightmare. First, everyone that knew him and his sudden fortune kept chiding or nagging him to retire and "enjoy your good luck." Or, "Enjoy your money." This went on for months. It really started to eat away at him because he didn't want to retire or quit, but to get away from it, he felt compelled to do so. Just as he retires, his wife files for divorce and takes half of his money and pension. That's when good luck turns into bad luck.
A couple people have posted WOW’s on my post. Well, there’s more to it. When his wife filed for divorce, at first she wanted to fast track it by doing a no-fault divorce. In Pennsylvania, because property exceeding ‘x’ amount of dollars were involved, they couldn’t do it, so their lawyers had to sit down and hammer out a deal.

Once they reached an agreement, they were to meet at his attorney’s office and sign the papers, then wait the necessary days for the divorce to become final. When she went to her husband’s attorney’s office, she had her new boyfriend in tow. This enraged her husband. He goes over to the car where the boyfriend was sitting and put his fist through the window breaking several fingers and his wrist. Her boyfriend was so scared of his girlfriend’s soon to be ex-husband that he ran and never returned. So now, she sues her husband.

The case was settled, but I never heard just what the terms of the settlement was.

Do you believe in luck? Are you lucky?

Yes, I do
I've been lucky

But, that's all chance, nothing to count on
When it happens, great

I'm more trusting in answered prayer
Not prayer for things
Prayer for strength, wisdom

I'm on the fence about good luck and bad luck. I recognize that "good" luck is usually the result of making the right choices, just as "bad" luck comes from making the wrong choices, but not wanting to admit it.

On the other hand, I've seen some people who have been saved from their consequences over and over again; they fall face-down in the symbolic mud pit that they decide to take a short-cut by jumping over instead of walking around and they still come up shining like a new penny. Good luck?

I have a friend from junior high school who seems to have nothing but back luck. You name it, it has happened to her. Her luck doesn't seem to come from poor choices, though. She's a good person who takes no moral-shortcuts, but that ol' mud pit gets her every time. Bad luck?

Is it "luck" or did their dogma get run over by their karma?

I've been lucky in some ways and not so lucky in others. I consider myself lucky to be alive and so I do believe in luck.
