Do you believe in the story of Noah and the ark (and if you do what do you believe about it)?

i love the old tales and it never ceases to amaze me how some do corroborate or have great similarities with the legends of other tribes and civilizations.

much has to be said about perspectives in regards to localized events and it wouldn't be prudent to disregard the intelligence or capabilities of those in the past.

there's proof of ancient diaspora and trade all over the globe. evident by archeological remains and even documented by way of contracts such as between the philippine islanders, chinese, and phoenicians.

i've transposed my own posts on different forums over time as my awareness of events took on more insight or simply changed over the years so i can easily see how a story can evolve with every retelling.

but since your question confines me to one specific incident and set of events... my answer is no.

consider the source.

Forget about the manipulative picture religions have created for their gods and what they are supposedly responsible for and what they did. Instead as has always been the case, powerful ruling classes have been the actual bad guys. Consider how God (or UIEs) oddly for such a supposedly advanced entity doesn't ever defend himself in scripture created by earth monkeys. Even obviously for we modern humans stupidly immoral sections. As in not actually from god. Very evident in how Jesus condemned practices of religious elites that were merely puppets of rulers.

An advanced race of aliens in space craft could easily influence atmospheric weather in order to create limited river basin floods that would totally destroy human lives within, especially if that was what to them were excessively morally corrupt humans. From that perspective not at all surprising. If one carefully considers the Ten Commandments and OT scripture, the primary offense points to centuries of secksual issues, human sacrifice, murders, endless senseless warring, and the powerful subjugating the weak and defenseless.
The Old Testament is really quite horrific.

Do I believe that Noah's Ark could have happened by man's efforts alone without God's supernatural intervention? No.
But with God orchestrating it all, yes.
If I don't have that much faith, then I would not believe in any of the miracles of Jesus. Feeding over 10,000 people with food created on the spot, making the blind see, and raising the dead are all supernatural events that I also, through faith, believe in.

Civilizations copy from other civilizations. We adopt scientific discoveries, economic and political systems, religions, myths, and beliefs. Some of these adapations are beneficial. Some are not. Some are just baggage without purpose. Our ability to mimick is much more developed than the lower animals because of our ability to communicate, but our ability to discriminate between truth and fiction is an independent factor and highly flawed.

You do realize that the definition of "faith" is to believe things for which there is no evidence?

As a religious person, I differ in that dominant view because I can imagine ways in which a race of visiting alien intelligent entities with ancient developed science could perform supposed supernatural events without requiring what to this person is impossible magic. That is illogical impossible actions without forces. But that also requires subscribing to The Bible as not being inerrant nor God and angels being unlimited power OOO entities. Instead IMO, that book is a mix of truth and human creations that the intelligent entities don't bother to correct. It isn't that those entities have been lying to us but rather allow humans to on their own incorrectly record from what is really going on due to their primitive science knowledge and culture. It is true they misled humans in ways they could predict humans would incorrectly assume. Don't expect such entities would explain how they "cured" diseases by using advanced nanobots absorbed through skin contact. No, explaining actual science would have been nonsense to primitives that would continually need more explanations.

I already explained why the Noah's Ark Flood story can be believable if one removes the verses obviously inserted centuries later by exiled to Babylon Jewish priests. The feeding of the 5000 is an easy explanation. First the scripture:

John 6:6 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

Notice that does not explain the physical process beyond people sat down and distribution was directed by Jesus. There could have been a hidden underground structure with a small opening to the surface at the location of the event. A large basket with a trap door could be placed on that location concealing what was really going on. Jesus may have been the only person that could see what was happening within the basket. Each time the basket filled to a given level, it could be tipped over to fill smaller lower baskets distributors carried away. The fact he asked they all sit down plays into that scenario.

Jesus walking on the water of the Sea of Galilee is even easier. He was walking on the surface of a submarine craft deck submerged just a foot or so beneath the surface. Much more. Challenge me.

No.

But as story it works. It has compassion for animals. It has murder of innocents both human & all land based life other than those selected to be survivors or for food for the survivors. It has mystery like how various animals found only on islands like Australia, the Philippines & Madagascar got there. Where all the water went when the flood subsided. Sex between those closely related to regenerate earths population.

What is possible is that 'Noah' had fore knowledge of some coming catastrophe and built a large vessel for himself and his family. Others mocked him but he survived and they did not. Later generations created a myth around the story.
There is another version of this in the 'Epic of Gilgamesh'. A man named Deucalion also survived a massive flood. He was another one who had a personal relationship with 'God'. He was even taken up in a flying craft and was able to describe how the Earth looked from space. Explain that, if you will!

Hilariously to inerrants, some are likely to say angels and gods just floated up in the sky and clouds just like scripture describes. Well because if absolutely anything is possible to godlike powers, why not? But yeah if they (UIEs) have limitations as I promote, then yeah an ancient visiting alien entity will use technology crafts though may appear magical to science primitives.
