Do you believe the era of public libraries is over?

I was referring to public libraries. There are also many more local and community libraries. Generally public libraries are open to everyone while community libraries may be limited to the community.
That is still surprisingly low, IMO. It seems almost every town I‘ve been through has one. While travelling in the US, I’ve gone in some small town libraries to look something up in a book or ask a question. This was prior to having the internet everywhere.

Feel free to do your own research. I could be wrong.

Our public libraries require you to pay property taxes in the area in order to check out materials. You can go there and use the facilities and read to your hearts content but you can‘t check items out or read “Libby” items without a card. Around here library cards are $50.00 a year
I've never heard of these things. My library couldn't know what if anything I "paid in taxes'. There is no charge for a Library Card.

It seems low since many schools don't permit the public to enter. But this is total. I've known one that was a house, converted. Let's see what I can get here.....

Yep, the Woodland Public Library. 1/4 the size of Orchards Public Library. But a 1/20 of Portland's Central public library.

Has a quaint old times feel.

We are the "pahhk the cahh in the hahhvaad yahhd" people, it's "libary".:)
only cuz you're mispronouncing it. big difference between a dialect and incorrect pronunciation. here in the Philly area, we drink "wooder" and that boat that carries vehicles across a river is a "furry".
