I'm a bit skinny, and have no "cushioning" on my hands and arms. I was working on my riding mower a couple of days ago, and bumped/banged my hands and arms in several places. Within hours, I had several big bruises on my arms and hands. .

Does anyone here have this problem, and have you found any treatments that reduce these bruises? They usually go away after a couple of weeks, but right now it looks like I've been in a major fight.

I have the same problem, makes me crazy. There is no treatment that works, I just asked my Dr. about that recently. As mentioned in another post- wearing arm protection is the only solution. I have several sets of "sleeves", one pair is made of Kevlar. They only work if I put them on...

You can get good quality mechanics gloves with Velcro closure for easy of putting on on Amazon. Will save you lots of injury too.
Harbor Freight has great knee pads for around the shop and house knee crawl stuff. Soccer shin / leg guards too.
Cut the toes off sox for immediate arm protection. Sort of like heavy denim shirt sleeves.

Trying to apply cold packs as soon as possible, when the bumps occur, might reduce initial swelling tendency, and then, might reduce the bruise when first starting.

But not an actual treatment, as there isn't one, I agree with the others.

Protection for the skin works best, but even that doesn't fully prevent bruising underneath, I've noticed.

All True, of course, but I got a good chuckle from your last line of your post. 😄

Loss of collagen can cause bruising. Also, certain meds will contribute to this occurrence. To say nothing of age.
I remember reading we have lost 90% of collagen by age 65. And blood thinners/BP medications make it worse. I wear long sleeves and kevlar gloves when working outside or on my vehicles.

I know a woman in her seventies who wears arm protectors (they look like “leg warmers”) almost all the time. The one time I saw her without them, she had purple bruises on both arms.

Same here with no "cushioning". Toss in Eliquis for blood thinning to prevent a stroke & there you have it.

Bruising that seems to come from even a strong breeze. At 1st. when this started I thought to myself WTF but now I'm used to seeing bruising. Don't like it but at least I know I'm doing something instead of laying on the couch doing nothing, trying to avoid the ugly looking bruises.

DonM: I have to take Asprin every day to prevent clots. The back of my hands has many bruises on them. I use Arnica to help with the problem, but I bought a tube of skin coloured cream and put it over the bruises which helps a bit.
