Do you bruise easily?

yes, it seems that I bruise easily. It must be age related because I don't take any meds.

I wonder about my sister...Unlike me who has to have a house fall on them before bruising appears.. you only have to look at my sister and she bruises.. Not age related bruising yet.. but the really blue bruising we all suffer if we fall... as we did as kids

She's always bruised like that.. even if we brushed against her when she was 10... .. she used to use it to get us a hiding, saying we'd hit her....

Anyway she doesn't have age related bruising yet, in her late 60's.. but I wonder if she'll get it any worse than most or any earlier than most

I n addition to the guy that hit and artery i also had a gal nurse that punctured through instead of into the vein. Then instead of following procedure and withdrawing the needle entirely before trying stick me again she moved it around trying to get it where it would draw the blood. The 'pain' was more of discomfort than pain but doing that somehow messed with my BP i went into shock briefly.

that;s what happened to me ..moving the needle around trying to find the vein...unlike your experience mine was incredibly painful

Sometimes I’ll bang myself, it really hurts, and there’s no bruise. I deserved one so I could have some sympathy.

Other times there‘s a big bruise and I don’t remember anything that would have caused it.

Nowadays my arms are marked up with little bruises. Any little thing can do that, especially on my right arm.

I am on two blood thinners, Eliquis and Plavix. While it sometimes leaves small purple spots on the top of my hands sometimes that seems to be it. I bleed more, though, from a cut, etc.

Eliquis worsened my essential tremors & they haven't gone back to how they were before I started on it -- and quit. What makes the outcome more aggravating is that apparently I didn't need it in the first place--mistaken diagnosis of having afib.

I'm fortunate at 70, I don't take any kind of medication like blood thinners or High blood pressure meds..or diabetic meds..or heart meds... touching wood here I hope I never have to....

I believe it, have had similar from minor skirmishes with not even sharp objects. Tore a pencil eraser sized hole in base of thumb that i wouldn't have noticed till later if hadn't bled.

I've been taking Asprin now for 14 years to prevent clotting. The backs of my hands are always bruised, and the skin is like tissue paper. I just have to knock my hands, and it bleeds instantly, I have to carry band-aids in my bag to stem the bleeding. Thinking of getting a pair of Michael Jackson gloves made out of wire to wear.

I have the "thin skin" syndrome from growing up in Florida in the sun and I bruise easily. I walk around the house at a fast pace and usually bruise from hitting my hand or arm on a door knob. We have the handle type door knobs and they are brutal. Occasionally I cut my skin as well and it bleeds freely.

I'm not on any blood thinners. I've always bled a lot, even from a shaving nick.

I'm old and skinny, and my hands and arms bruise real easy. I finally found a cream, "Dermend...$20 at Walmart", that substantially shortens the time that I'm walking around with bruises on my arms.

No, l hardly ever do, even when l hit my shin bone against something hard. But l rub it real quick.

when I say it takes a really severe injury to make me bruise... it shows just how heavy handed a certain phlebotomist at my local hospital is when taking blood...

I have a rare blood type so I’m diligent about donating every couple months. Some techs are better than others, for sure!

@hollydolly Over the years I’ve had several bruises just like yours! Usually it happens when they don’t get the vein first try and have to either keep pricking me or they move the needle around under my skin.

Like you I have a high pain tolerance, and am tolerant by nature, but a couple of times I’ve requested another tech when the one just couldn’t find the vein after repeated attempts. I hate when I have to do that, and I’m kind about it, but I remind myself that I don’t want to be so uncomfortable that I won’t come back!
