Do You Buy Yourself A Christmas Gift ??

Every year I get one Christmas gift for myself.
This year is a Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener.
Accentuates my massive pocket knife collection and should be here Monday.

BUT, I found out this afternoon that some of my pocket knives may already be TOO sharp. Shoot

I buy things all year long so don't consider anything a Christmas gift. I have already decided that December is no spend month for me. So no Christmas gift for me this year.

I do now since husband has been gone.. I love Xmas... I love to give and receive gifts..sometimes DD buys me a gift, more often she doesn't.. so now I buy my own.

I don't actually go out with the express intention of buying a gift for myself, but in the run up to Christmas, if I buy a high ticket item, or I go on a trip..whether one day or or one month then I accept that as my gift to myself..

This doesn't have to be at Christmas, but I have thought about treating myself to a very fancy restaurant dinner at a place we used to go to. I would be solo, or course, so I'd have to get up my nerve.

if I can do it, you can do it..... I've had to do it the last 2 years.. don't go to them as regularly as we used to go now I'm on my own..but occasionally I'll go on my own,. and occasionally I'll go with friends... but I feel you have to break the spine of it by going alone at least once to a place where you used to go together

Nobody remembers my birthday and at Christmas our family does not exchange gifts. I just buy what I want anytime of the year (within budget).

I don't buy much for myself aside from necessities and things for the house as they need replacing, so I'm probably boring that way. I already avoid thinking about the clutter I need to ditch before I croak and leave a mess for others to shovel out someday.

Just ordered myself a new phone (pixel 8 Pro, 512GB). My old one (Oneplus 8) was 3 years old and had stopped getting software updates last April. The new one gets OS and security updates until Oct 2030. I absolutely did not expect to buy a new phone when I woke up this morning, but hey, it's Christmas!

My iphone isn't that old.. so I;m not even thinking of getting a new phone.. thank goodness I wasn't now that I've got that big bill to pay tomorrow for car repairs...
