Do You "Drink the Frog?"

I was talking to a worker in the drug store when I was looking at the fiber "laxative" products based on psyllium husk powder. I wondered if the orange flavored mix had sugar, since one benefit is supposed to be regulating blood sugar.

Offhand I asked, "I wonder if you can drink it hot?"

She said "Yes, but you have to drink the frog."

I guess most of the fiber tends to buoy up and form a slimy mat on top of the water. Ack! Ptui! What an image!

I gave up on all the laxative stuff years ago. A couple of good bowls of shredded wheat will do just as well. Or for taste add a scoop of bran flakes. But, remember walking around works the muscles in the right places. If you sit all day then it all turns to stone. So stop being on old man and get out in the sunshine.

I wasn't talking about laxative use. But by the way, shredded wheat is more glycemic than even pasta.

Glycemic or not it works well to its purpose, and much better than pizza to that purpose. If you are looking for the perfect food for this or that I doubt if you will ever find it. Which of course leaves you eating nothing. And, by that you have your solution for all the ales you.

I got organic psyllium husk in the health food store. No sugar, flavor, and works well. Pricey but I don't use it all the time.

I get the bran buds and sprinkle them on fruit and yogurt. I love shredded wheat. The big biscuits not the frosted mini ones.

I guess some people aren't aware of the role dietary fiber can play in controlling blood sugar.

Or maybe they just don't care? Hearing that some people are poor, they come back with "Are there no prisons?"

Yes, adding to hot liquid is definitely not recommended because it gels much faster. Assuming that's a choking potential, but not sure.
