Haddock, "haddie" is the cheapest and most widely available fish here, local seas teem with it, and it is the standard fish if you ask for fish and chips. Cod is available, but more expensive (and tastier). Hake is often available, and seasonally North Sea halibut. Turbot is also sometimes available, and salmon and sea bass are ever present..
The "standard" fish varies in different parts of the country over here. In South Wales it is hake, and in the London area dogfish, which they call rock salmon.
