Do you eat healthy?

Yes, I eat the healthiest that I've ever eaten in my entire life. The difference being that I didn't know how to eat healthy before.
I'm on a low carb, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, low sugar, no alcohol, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, plus some meat. Why? Food allergies for part of it and losing weight for the other part. I have been on this diet for the last 4 years and have lost weight slowly, which is fine because I put it on slowly.

As I shed the weight, I hope to rebuild my strength.

Do I ever cheat? Of course I do. A few bites of fried chicken or a spring roll every once in a while keeps the spirits up and momentum going.

I eat a number of low and reduced fat items, and use sugar substitutes and consume sugar-free drinks...but all things in moderation, including moderation! 😺

I'm not sure. I go on kicks. Asian for awhile. Italian for awhile. English for awhile. It must be healthy because I'm maintaining the same weight I had in high school without even trying.

And I must have something sweet every day. Right now I'm on a Danish pastry kick.

Warmed up with a cup of coffee.

I guess I do, instinctively, but I don't focus on the "health" part of it. My body tells me what it needs, most of the time.

I have used this quote from Auntie Mame before: "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death." She was speaking metaphorically, but I think that's my philosophy about eating. Food is meant to be enjoyed!

And if what you are eating is "unhealthy," your body will tell you soon enough.

I live by the old adage, "everything in moderation".

I have my good days and my bad days, but for the most part, meals are balanced and prepared from scratch, and I'm content with that.

I refuse to go through life eating things that I don't favour, all in the name of good health and well-being.

Yes. I eat healthy and have for most of my life. That’s not to say I don’t ever eat junk food. I very much enjoy the act of eating but I instinctively am attracted to eating healthy foods. The times I crave junk food is usually because I’ve over exhausted myself and exercised too much.

No, probably not. Tonight we're having pinto beans with french fries, breaded fried okra, white or wheat bread, coffee or water to drink. For desert, a french roll or ice cream.

I generally eat fairly healthy overall. I like to eat a lot of vegetables, but am not eating quite as many as I'd like to these days. We're on a keto diet right now and that's working although I think it might be my additional exercise that's working more than the diet.

Overall my downfall when not dieting are sweets and alcohol. I don't drink a lot (usually one drink a day and sometimes two almost never more than that.)

Given that I am 72 1/2 with only mild high blood pressure in terms of aliments I am among the 50/50 club. Potato chips and ice cream are my addictions so I avoid ice cream all but one per month but chips every other week and when they arrive home neither stands a chance of surviving more than two days.

I eat super healthy, mostly organic and tons of fresh fruit & veggies. Wouldn't touch fast food, red meat or fried anything. It surely does help healthwise and exercisewise. I love to cook and create new dishes all the time. When I couldn't find all the fresh veggies I wanted in the grocery store cuz of covid shortages, I learned to make a radish soup which is so yummy it's become one of my favs.

It needs to be a lifestyle change to work and you need to keep it fresh & exciting. For me it's worth it. I enjoy food very much and love to eat but I don't look like I love to eat, and that is a good reward in itself. :giggle:

We eat pretty healthy here. I was raised eating that way. If I had to live on veggies alone,I would be perfectly happy, for the most part. Hubby was not raised this way-his mom was from Oklahoma,so he was raised on fried chicken, red meat, biscuits and gravy etc. Only veggies he knew were corn and canned peas. My mom started "transforming" him(he couldn`t say no to her) and I have finished the job.

We only eat fast food if there is no other option-it grosses me out and it`s now as expensive as sitting down in a restaurant and eating "real" food, thanks to minimum wage being hiked to the amount that it is. Why bother?

My wife is a great cook and really pays attention to what we eat. If I want some "cheat" food I have to buy it myself and hide it in the garage before smuggling it into my office. Every once in awhile she will make a dessert or cookies.
We have lots of fruits and vegetables, fish twice a week, and small meat portions.
One exception is that I have a small dish of really good ice cream every day.
My weight has been very stable since we married and right now I am two pounds heavier than I was when I retired from the Navy 29 years ago.
