I took banjo lessons 48 years ago. I learned to play three songs. All three sounded identical. I don't think I was a good student.

I like to listen to the music, but I don't play. The one song that always pops up in my mind when someone mentions banjo, is this one. Does that happen to anyone else?

I never cared much for Banjo music until I discovered Mean Mary a couple years ago.

Many years ago, I took up playing the banjo after reading the Fox Fire books. I played only for personal pleasure. Life got in the way and quit that but about ten years ago, took up the uke. At a family gathering, where several others were playing their instruments, someone asked me where I learned to pick. That skill had transferred to the uke and created a different sound to the traditional uke playing.

Have been thinking of taking it back up again.

I used to play in much younger days. I was learning Scruggs style, then almost losing my index finger at work, I finally gave up. I could pick it up again in a different style but, far too busy now. I still very much enjoy listening to it though.

Yes!!! This superb piece from the movie "Deliverance" (1972) also came to my mind.
