Do you ever get frustrated with "streaming?"

I have been reduced to watching old shows since the new ones that interest me only feature six to eight episodes, then I have to wait a year or so for season two. I feel cheated and now watch only shows that have proven themselves and are at least into season three! But since there are not that many geared to my taste I am back to "Law and Order" and "CSI." Twenty episodes plus, a season!!!

Yes, I like to find shows that have at least a few seasons too. I dumped cable 6 years ago and now I binge shows. I don't like waiting a week to see the next episode like we all used to do. Instead I wait until the season is over and watch that season until I'm finished. That works better because I usually only watch one episode a day. I'm slowly going through the last season of Blue Bloods now.

I don't mind the shorter seasons. The last show I watched with strong interest (Succession) only had 10 episodes per season and yes, the wait was frustrating ,but I think back to older shows that had season runs of 26 or so shows and remember many of those episodes just filler episodes to fill the 26 episode order. One example that I can think of is the X=Files. It remains one of my all time favorite shows but many of the episodes were clunkers. So I do prefer the quality over quantity. Just my opinion though.

Well, I would rather watch 25 episodes with five clunkers than shows with six to eight episodes that leave you wanting more but you don't get a new season for years after the first one. I am thinking of "Reacher!" A great show that is supposed to be in the can already, but for some reason they are holding it back. Thank God for old shows. I have binged "Castle," "Bones," (which did have quite a few of your clunkers toward the end) "The Rookie," "The Orwell," "NCIS," and am watching "Law and Order" and "CSI" at the moment. In any case, something that isn't really pertinent to the subject, but I find most new shows are "soaps" with a continuing story, while I prefer each episode I watch to have a satisfying ending. So, twenty-five stories rather than one long one! No wonder there are some clunkers! :)

I can understand that. When nothing new interests me I go back and binge the X Files and other older shows, all episodes. It does fill the time nicely and I don't have to pay attention to them while doing other things. "Law and Order SVU" is always a reliable comfort show when I can't find anything new to watch !

A thousand channels, and still there’s nothing to watch! 😜
I feel that way, sometimes, Carol! I subscribe to about 6 different channels, including Prime (plus channels within Prime), Disney+ and Netflix and when I look at all the new shows, my mind goes: Naw, not interested! I don't like Drama, I don't like horror, I don't like "soaps," I am tired of sitcoms and their laugh tracks so, what's left? No wonder I spend so much time in this forum!

I don't understand the short seasons, they are frustrating. But worse I keep liking shows that get cancelled (or sometimes just have huge delays before the next season). I liked 'Dead Like Me' and 'Spirited' but neither lasted for long. I liked Good Omens and I don't know how many years it has been but they are only finally going to have Season 2 start later this month (I think).

I recently finished re-watching all the old 'Bones' episodes and it was so nice that there were lots of shows for each season. The good old days, sighhh.

No problem with streaming Spanish telenovelas on Netflix or Hulu. Unlike the series mentioned in the above the Spanish telenovelas can offer 60 or more episodes & several continuous seasons. And sometimes when the dialog is to fast for me, yes they have pretty decent Spanish to English sub titles that makes following the plot pretty easy.

There are so many streaming services to choose from, I branch out searching for fresh material when good, new content on Netflix is in a lull.
Tubi has a couple shows I might watch. Tubi is free, if commercials get to be too much I'll move on.
Pluto TV has shows I'd like to watch, but they pile on the commercials worse than cable / satellite.\
Paramount Plus has finally gotten a decent selection, but they just bumped up the monthly subscription by $2.
Amazon? I have a love / hate relationship with them, I don't think Prime is a good deal, but that's just me.

I go to Tubi quite often. Their commercials last thirty seconds, sometimes you might get two of them, but it's refreshing after Cable where you get twenty minutes of commercials per hour!

I started to watch one series and then decided to look up reviews. Apparently, season 1 ended with a cliffhanger and then season 2 was canceled before it began.

That would have been a bummer if I had put the time into watching all 10 episodes and been left hanging.

Now I read the reviews first.

I did enjoy going back to the beginning and bingeing all 12 seasons of "Call the Midwife", my favorite series of all times.

I have been doing that with new movies, read the reviews in IMDB first, that is. And not the ones by professionals, but the ones by the viewers! "Call the Midwife" where did you find that? Is it drama or comedy or a bit of both?

It's a great series about midwives and district nurses (some are Anglican nuns and some are laypersons) in 1950's and 1960's London in the docks area. Great actors and characters. Pathos, comedy, uplift, controversy.

It can be a bit graphic at times. One of my little 'uns loves to watch it with me. She has always called it "the baby show".

I don't know what happened, but I can't stand watching TV shows like Bones, Blue Bloods, even the X-Files anymore. It's like I can't find them believable or God forbid relatable anymore. I subscribe to MHz Choice and watch one episode a day while I eat breakfast. That's about all I can stand. I've always been picky about TV but man it's gotten worse over the past decade. Even the news has that pretending to be interesting quality to it. Ugh. I've lost my ability to imagine.

Dont stream anything, just download all episodes on the net (PC) transfer them to USB, plug them into Smart TV, and watch at my leisure, I like this option because can fast forward or rewind or whatever.
