Do You Ever Get Tired and Bored With Your Life?

Although I don't like an unmade bed or dirty dishes, they don't bother me that much but I'm married to someone they do bother. And he's got a right to his feelings and opinion on the subject like all of us. It is challenging, though, anytime you've got 2 or more humans--and some pets, lol!--who feel even slightly differently about house maintenance living under the same roof. Age-old problem, I guess.
So let HIM make the bed and do the dishes. If mine could do it before he died, so can yours. It is not necessarily a woman's job to do.

I get bored when I try to listen to some of today's music. What is wrong with young people these days? The music they put out is so boring! Here is an example:
They sound like they're trying to mimic some of the jazz-rock fusion music of the '70s, and they got a good groove going, but the solos are BORING! Jeeze! Show what you got! Take some risks!

Other than that, I have enough projects right now to last me a few years, so no, I'm not bored.
The concept is good but the timing is kind of rough. Try speeding up the playback speed to (1.25).

Salute to you my man. We did the foster parent deal back when we lived in Ca. Left a bad taste in my mouth. (not the children, but the system). I won't discuss details here.
I do wonder what happened to these sweet children.

The system sux!! Paxton was just shy of 3yrs old when family court gave his mom custody, and no one even knows why. She really only wanted his younger brother and sister, and only because they're twins, and that made her special. She missed 50% of her visits with Paxton; she visited the twins 3X/week; and she stopped visiting him at all for 9 freakin months. Paxton was with me his whole life, every day of it, and by 2 1/2 - 3 yrs-old, they're not "clean slates", they have all the feels and they're forming opinions and giving out labels....mine was Daddy.

o man, don't get me started - You know, you just hope the little piece of you they take with them (when they're ripped outta your life) helps more than it hurts.

But, good on you, Dog! Seriously. It kinda kills me but I'm glad I did it, for Paxton. At least he knows what happiness is.

I get bored all the time, but when I think of something to do, I find a reason not do it. I have made a vow to myself to go do something, even if it's wrong. Mornings I reserve for necessary things, but afternoons are free to do whatever. This morning I did some banking and this afternoon I'm going for a walk at the state park. My excuse for not going is that it's not that warm and very windy, but too bad...I'm going, so there.

Thanks for all the replies. Although it seems to help some to have (or create) lots to do, that's not my problem. I have lots to do; I'm just sick and tired of doing it.
This doesn’t sound like boredom to me. It reads as lack of motivation…no, that’s not quite right. A sort of apathetic approach. There’s a word for it…..and damn if I can’t remember it. Gotta love senior moments! 😂

If I can remember it I’ll post again.

Rarely and if so it is just due to temporary circumstance like waiting in a long line say at a supermarket or gas station. What the OP is really stating is they are bored with general activities of their life. And to that I would state "I too would be depressingly bored if I lived the life of many others." And NO NO NO that does not mean one has to be wealthy. Unfortunately, after a life time of banal activities, for many it may psychologically hopeless trying to develop new interests and hobbies.

Here in brief are Maslov's 5 levels of needs:

https://www.explorepsychology.com/maslows-hierarchy-of-needs/

1 Physiological needs. Food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter are the bare necessities for anyone's survival.
2 Safety and Security needs. Once a person's basic needs are satisfied, the want for order and predictability sets in.
3 Social needs.
4 Esteem needs.
5 Self-Actualization.

Many people live their whole working lives at levels 1 and 2 while in emotional turmoil at level 3. When as seniors they retire, not surprisingly they find boring emptiness as they try to fill that now long working activity void the same way they did during their working year's short leisure periods. Like it was fine living such when they had an hour or three each day during 8-5 m-f working years but now in retirement, 24-7, those same diversions like tv and pleasure snacking eating won't fly unless one likes being obese while drinking a beer while watching endless dated situation comedies and old B&W Westerns.

Sometimes. Then I take a page from my 87 year old uncle's book. He went skydiving on his birthday last year.
The way to go. I didn't skydive, hell's bells, just going up in a plane freaks me out. We used to cross the Atlantic at least twice a year for well over twenty five years, not once did I see the inside of the plane's toilet. Get in the plane, take my seat, fasten seat belt, stay put until we landed. No drinks, (I might need to pee,) no meals, nothing, just sit there scared witless, afraid that an impromptu skydive might be required.

What I did do though, with feet on terra firma, was to drive a steam train engine. Well not exactly drive it, I shovelled coal into the burner, turned the knobs and dials as directed and got my hands and face thoroughly blackened, it was wonderful. And I was 74 not 87, but give me time.

I still ride cutting horses at every opportunity. Chasing cows is ANYTHING but boring! Not exactly feet on the ground, though.

He's too busy taking care of the yard, we're on one acre, too much for us, which is why I want to move and he doesn't, he def. doesn't want to have so little (or no) yardwork that he's got time to do housework, he hates it but so do I. He has mentioned having a cleaner come in but you know, I don't mind vacuuming and dusting as much as I do doing laundry and all the bill paying and no one around here does laundry and I was advised to never hire a small secretarial svc. to do my bill paying and financing. A gal on another site I'm on was an accountant before she retired and now volunteers at a seniors center and is just inundated all the time with elderly coming in that were ripped off by secretarial/small business services they hired to help them with their finances. She said she and the cop at the local police dept. that handles that have each other on speed dial because they've had so many of those services investigated and then shut down over the years; one was even a place that had been in business for 20 years, the owner of the svc. was a VIP of the town had been mayor for a while and he and a lot of his employees over the years had been ripping off those poor old customers. She told me to either try to have a large accounting firm do my stuff--although she warned me most of those large firms won't take a job that small--or have a family member, one of my kids, for instance help me with it; when I told her I didn't have any kids, she said "Oh, dear, I don't know what to tell you then."

@officerripley Even though you don't mind doing the vacuuming and dusting, if you hired someone to do them, maybe the laundry would seem easier.

I'm the opposite of you. I hate vacuuming and don't mind laundry. But if someone could take the laundry off my hands, I wouldn't feel so burdened by the whole package (laundry + other housework).

As for the original question ... Balancing too much drama vs. too much boredom is an art. I think if I had just a little more money I'd travel. Either living in another country or living the van life. I need lots of interesting input.

As things are, I feel stuck. But I believe it's up to me to find interesting things to do.

Our local dry cleaners both do laundry. They even pick up and deliver. You might check that.

I don't have time to get bored. Seems like I am busy or working on something or other all day long. Yeah, some of the things I do every day are routine chores that I must do but I don't mind. I read a lot, watch videos or write in my journal or the story I am working on. These were all the things I dreamed about doing and now I have the time.
