Do You Ever Read A Book More Than Once ??

When I was a kid, I read a lot of louis L'Amour books

Then, after a dozen or so books, realized it was like reading the same stories with different names
A friend in elementary school liked to read Agatha Christy books. So I read two popular ones and they were very good.

Later I looked up what were considered her best books. I bought 4 of them and read 2 before realizing the formula and not being as enthralled by the reveals. Pretty predictable.

Some fiction, whether movie or book, is better appreciated later in life when you realize more of what is being commented on.

So if you were a young adult the first time, there could be more to gain revisiting it later in life. Often it's just a more emotional reaction to loss that is depicted in the work of fiction.

Once somebody said: "A book which is unworthy to be read twice isn't even worthy to be read a single time".

Yes, I read books twice or even more often, for example"1984" because of it's actuality.
And of some books I can't just get enough, as "Justine", the first part of Lawrence Durrell's "Alexandria Quartet". The second part "Balthazar" is as good or even better.

I re-read books all the time, as well as new ones. I think I've read Sister Carrie about a dozen times, An American Tragedy and Of Human Bondage about a half-dozen each, and The Good Earth probably a dozen as well. I also re-read "comfort" novels, such as Elin Hilderbrand's and the Little House on the Prairie series.

That said, I love new books as well. I usually have my nose stuck in a book.

Yes, over the yrs I've re read books
One of my favorite 're reads' is Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth' the construction of a Gothic English cathedral in England in 1200 read it the 1st time in '89. I love history this was terrific,983 pgs, couldn't put it down
The 2nd time I read it June 2004 when I was off work for 3 months after I had partial knee surgery I thoroughly enjoyed again

I first read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" at the age of 10. I've re-read it about every year or two since then. That book really stirred my soul. We listen to the same songs, operas, albums over and over again, don't we? No reason not to enjoy the same books again and again.

There are other books I re-read, but that one is at the top of the stack. I give every little girl in the family a copy of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", "A Little Princess", and "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" for their 10th birthday. Whether they read them or not is up to them, but I want to give them the opportunity.

I read that years ago. It would probably seem all brand new if I reread it. At the time someone compared me to Clea. I wonder if that was a compliment.

What a nice idea!
