I think the first shock I got , talking about school friends. was when i was in my 40's... and saw on the friends reunited website , that the boy who sat next to me in class in primary school when we were aged 8 to 11...... and he was the brainbox of the class... was now a grandfather of 6...in his 40's ... ! I couldn't believe it ...lol

I have just found on Facebook a site about St. Patrick's, the school I went to from age 7 until leaving at 15 years of age. I have
included my name so let's see if any of my school friends are still with us. I'll be 83 this year and still in contact with 4 of my school friends.

I had the very recent experience of losing my X husband just this month.. on the 16th of March 2026 .

Oh Holly, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your friend... your ex. And yes, I remember he remained your friend always because when you mentioned him, it was always with caring. Condolences also for your daughter losing her dad. @hollydolly

I started looking on the internet for names of people I knew when I was younger.
Funny how I get such a sense of happiness and warmth while reading about them even in their obits.
Because that seems to be where almost all of them are now.
But to see that the guy I went to highschool with, did get married to that girl he liked so much, so many years ago and that they had three kids.
Does it matter that he had alzheimers for several years before he died and she is gone too?
I found out that one guy I worked for who everybody called Jim, that his real name was Clifford Edward.
Jim fit him so much better so that is how I will remember him.
Man! We had a time. We were the kind of guys who worked hard and played hard, drank hard and fought hard together.
Now all I can say is I hope I will see you again some day.

I think you will see them again, those whom you valued and had strong connections with.

I think that my closest friends have either emigrated or passed away. Of course, should one of them try to check up on me, they would find that I had moved from one end of the country, to the other and back.
