Do you hang the flag to celebrate Juneteenth?

They rammed the California missions down our throats in 4th grade. Now I see how wrong that was considering how native people were treated. The missions should remain as historical buildings but the truth of their history needs to be told.
 

This is a holiday I was unfamiliar with until I moved to Texas. I figure any holiday that celebrates freedom is a good thing. Sadly, at the Juneteenth celebration in the next town over, two people were shot and killed and a dozen more wounded. An unspecified argument started it. I am guessing alcohol may have played a part.

Oh yes I understand your frustration as an adult. Cab you believe that altho; we won both major world wars , we were never taught one word about it, despite it being over just 20-25 years before...

Far more interested in teaching us about Francis Drake & Henry the Vlll..the wife murderer
 

I do not put the flag up for any holiday, but I respect the Juneteenth celebration. I grew up in the segregated South where we ate at a cafeteria where black people could only carry our trays. They weren't allowed to eat there. I remember going there with my parents as a kid and there were black people laying in the streets protesting. I didn't understand it all, but I sure do now.

The way our country treated black people is an abomination, and I do celebrate the progress that has been made.
 
Not this year . But I think it’s a good idea since it marks a specific occurrence in American history. Too bad it’s not the same day as the 13th amendment. That was on January 31.
