I'm lucky that my daughter likes the same things that I do. Some have been in the family for three or four generations & those she wants.

My children all like the same things I do, too. But with all hovering near 40 years of age, they already have many beautiful things, some from me, but the lion's share were passed down from my mother. Also, their houses are 1/2 to 2/3 the square footage of mine.

Over the holidays I will see what I can give away. I'll start off by asking guests if they're martini or cosmo drinkers...

I'm not a hoarder, rather I think along the lines of a clutterer....
I don't have places to store tools, or doo dads that I use the
tools with, so the odd things go into a drawer, or kitchen cabinet, and some stuff laying around on tables, tv trays, etc...
Small house so that is how it is!!!!

I am not exactly a hoarder, more of a collector. Many years ago I got into collecting duck decoys. Problem was they began to take over the house — shelves in just about every room. Kept a few, but got rid of the bulk of it, and no more decoys! Well, probably no more, but there are one or two … oh well. (-8

I am the opposite. Devout minimalist herd.

I sweep the house for the thrift shop at least at the end of every season.

I have a friend who is a terrible hoarder, just like on those shows. It drives me crazy to visit her home.

A hoarder is defined as someone who acquires an excessive number of items and stores them in a chaotic manner, usually resulting in unmanageable amounts of clutter. Hoarders usually have excessive repetition of the same item in their homes and have extreme difficulty parting with possessions, regardless of their value or usefulness.

I think a lot of us have excess possessions, but true hoarding disorder is estimated to affect 2% - 6% of the population worldwide. All races, cultures and ethnicities are affected.
