Do You Have A Financial Self Indulgence?

Mine is wine and massages. I go about every 10 days for a full 1 1/2 hour full body massage and spend about $50 a week on wine. I can afford both so that's not a problem, but I do feel it's a self indulgence and one that I unquestionably enjoy.

I indulge in wine, too. I went to a massage once and just felt uncomfortable with a stranger touching me. That was long ago and I may try one again.

Being unemployed for far too long I have to behave myself. But to celebrate Mother's Day and back to work...$50 worth of used books from B and M.com...I wear the same clothes for years and pedicures here and there. But I need books more than food even;)

I too go for massage about every six weeks, but it's hardly relaxing. As for wine, I suppose it's an indulgence, but I'm keeping it to less costly bottles, usually under $8. Some great buys at Trader Joe's.

I found a really good wine at Aldis-it's called Shiraz. It's a nice red wine and it only costs 3.99 a bottle! :)

I like to go to the casino's a few times each year and play the slots. Only the penny machines and I always have a set amount that I will throw away. Once in awhile I win but I definitely am not ahead. Still, it's fun. One of my biggest vices are plants. I can't pass them up. I even love the marked down half dead ones. It's a challenge to see if I can bring it back from the brink of death. Many times I do.

Too many of our meds say not with booze. We will go to Dairy Queen for Mothers day.

Never been to a massage parlor.

Dairy Queen sounds great any day. I love their cones and peanut buster parfaits.

I read everyday so books are a top priority. Instead of buying books, I usually read on Amazon Kindle App on a tablet. This time of year I spend for the yard/garden--plants, flowers, dirt, tools, etc.

I drank my share and more when I was younger and just don't care for it anymore. Every few weeks I'll have a Dirty Girl (root beer with Orphan Girl Cream Bourbon Liquor). It tastes like a root beer float. So good!

I smoked for years but now use an ecig so spend far less money on juice than I did on cigs. Then there's cannabis. I buy enough to ease the arthritis in hands, feet, hips and knees, and to sleep. Any extra I have I use to relax, de-stress and lift my mood. Montana's law is a little shaky right now so I'm spending more on stocking up for a possible dry spell coming up.

Travel is my indulgence. I love massages but haven't gotten one here at home for years. In Thailand I get a weekly massage. Costs the equivalent of about $20 plus a good tip.

As for wine I buy the wines on sale at my supermarket - usually between £4-5. I don't often drink it at home, just when our friends come by and also I take a bottle or rose' and red when we are invited to their house for dinner. Our friends always buy wines by the case, but I bring some anyway.

My husband brews really good beers and ales in our garage, so we rarely buy beer to have at home.

When we go on long bike rides here at home (which I hope we'll start doing tomorrow) my indulgences are stopping at a cafe for a late morning cappuccino and a scone, and stopping for a beer or two near the end of the ride.

Don't indulge in spirits, too many alcoholic uncles, I used to indulge in gambling that I have previously indicated, I'm venturing back into that realm later this year. I also spend time & limited funds on anything that interests me in 'Open Source' technology. Movie buff, so Redbox will be listed as a dependent (or medical expense) on my tax returns in the future.

Every month, my local library has a "used" book sale. Paperbacks are 25¢ each.

Yesterday I came back with a whole bag full for $2.00; most look almost new.

Now I have some good stuff to read when I get into bed at night. I try to choose my favorite authors.

I don't do massages or wine. I also by a few lottery tickets every few days if the pots are big enough.

I enjoy a nice wine, a good single malt whisky and Belgian trappist beer. My biggest financial indulgence is travel. Not long duration, like Ameriscot's, but short breaks in the campervan in summer and one or two European trips by air in late / early year.

I indulge in good TV watching. I subscribe to HBO and Showtime, and have recently gotten a Roku device for streaming, which I love. Using that, I get excellent movies and TV series from Netflix and Acorn (all British programming). I also belong to Netflix and get one DVD at a time, for those movies that are not available on the cable or streaming channels.

It makes a huge difference in the quality of what I am watching, and I feel it's well worth the $50 or so a month that it costs me. I rarely watch regular TV any more.

I'll be totally honest here, and say I'm terrible with my money. But I've made greater efforts to get it right lately. I try to manage most of my vices by allowing myself "A Monthly Indulgence." I order pizza & wings at the beginning of the month when my Social Security arrives. I get maybe a 12-pack of beer as well. Oh yeah, I spend some money on some techie gadgets, and maybe some new movies, whatever. I really want to get a "old style" Macintosh Pro computer. That's why I'm trying to take care of overdue bills so I can start saving money for the computer. In the meantime, I already have a 27" iMac, 2009 Mac Mini, 2009 Macbook, a recent model iPad, etc.

I like to roast my own coffee, but that is actually a savings over buying good artisan fresh roast, and I buy about an ounce of pot each month. Quit smoking tobacco several years ago, Never liked to drink much, never saw any upside to gambling, so I've stuck with one vice. I'm fat happy and well adjusted.

I LOVE Acorn TV! Especially the British whodunits!
