Do you have a lot of stuff you really don't use?

I had to get rid of this home-made 1.1-million-volt Electrostatic Generator (Van de Graaff Generator), because it would send lightning discharges through the ceiling and trip the breakers. If I had a 12-foot ceiling, it would be OK to keep it indoors.

It is now an outside garden ornament!

My youngest daughter used to drive me nuts by throwing out things she no longer needed, but were still usable. I'd tell her that they could come in handy some day. She'd just poo poo that and toss em out anyway, or give them away. Well, the time came when I had to pick and choose things I'd saved and give them away, but I'd learned from my daughter not to worry if I might need any of it someday and so it didn't worry me to be rid of it.

deesierra, I've felt a bit guilty getting rid of (old) items inherited from my parents (bio-mother & stepfather) even though our family life was not all that pleasant. I used most of those items for years, but not happily. So finally replacing them gave me a sense of freedom from unpleasant memories. I've kept all photos of the family though, but have not put them on display.

when i moved in with my youngest daughter i had to buy a shed to hold all my stuff i paid over a thousand dollars for it.i couldnt find another place i could afford so i called the salvation army and the picked up all my furniture-that was 6 years ago and i am still here

I have less stuff than a year ago, but still have to do a lot more cleaning. My shed is also a place I need to tackle. I just know I will have to have some help with that. Right now I have about 3 bags of things in my car that I plan to bring to the Goodwill donation center. The one I go to is great because someone will come out and help you unload your car.

Do you have a lot of stuff you really don't use

After 20 years in a small remote cabin my belongings have been paired down to the basics,
and the funny thing is since I have moved back to civilization I have found even more stuff I do not need!
When I moved to Texas all my stuff was in my pickup.

People, stop by the house all the time from out of state , just to meet me and have me sign their book ( Mostly Military), I show them my room, which my wife calls the Museum, she said she will keep everything the way it is, if I pass, just so people can visit.
