Thank you. We donā€™t have REAL ID here in Canada. Our equivalent is a passport which I donā€™t have. I am going to get one though.
 

Yes ,if youā€™ve got a Medicare card becuse itā€™s not only for medical purposes medical care is linked to Centerlink
( welfare ) and every man woman and child is linked to MC and CL

Centerlink is also linked to the tax department / child welfare payments the lot ,when a child is born if you apply to,have that child added to Medicare

family benefits you get payments from Centerlink for children which is linked with rent assistance If you rent a home

So we are not only linked to the commonwealth government we are also linked to state government who give us discounts in our water / electricity/ sewage .

Many years ago the government wanted to issue adults with an (Australia card) they were howled down people screaming they would loose their privacy ā€¦well IMO Medicare / Centerlink/ tax dept even right down to having photos in our drivers licence itā€™s a form of ID ā€¦.all linked together ā€¦is exactly
what the Aust card would have been.

Our drivers licences are online , so if a police officer wants to check our car or even a roadside camera if our cars rego is up to date ( no such thing as stickers on car windscreen anymore ) they can lock us up online who we are by our rego number it shows our drivers licence ā€¦.so yepā€¦we have plenty of id šŸ†”

The welfare system was called Social security ā€¦.now Centerlink and has been for number of years

I got the new VA card not long ago and creepy card compared to old one this one has info on it old card did not but I was told this new card could get you in PX , etc but turns out it can not unless retired military which was always the case .

I will renew one more time and yes will be my last as now do not drive nights , I could but rather not .

Hope safe self driving cars are out soon enough .
 
I haven't had any valid ID in maybe 13 years. I do have a few old expired ones from other states sitting in my wallet. Police have only asked me for ID once in 6 years and were satisfied with that. The BMV is right around corner. I'll get to it one day.
 
I just renewed my DL and opted out of real ID. I told them I hated flying when I was young, I still hate the thought and That means Iā€™m not flying anywhere. Then she asked me the state, county, AND town I was born in. Fancy that - šŸ‘½šŸ‘½

I tried getting a new VA card last month and a snobby employee kept giving a hard time. I just left.
 
Our bank even keeps tabs on us .ā€¦ cause I keep getting notifications that my card had been used in Queensland and New South Wales yesterday ā€¦ā€¦.. yes it was ..cause where we are is right in the boarder of those states

ā€¦.and Yes Centerlink has all our banking details ā€¦. as wellā€¦cause our age pension gets paid directly into our accounts
 
I got mine a year or so ago. It is good until 2032!

A guy showed me his commercial driver's license. It is stamped "Not a real ID". He said that gets some funny reactions sometimes.

I don't speak Spanish at all. I just used google. Google must have a Cuban from Hialeah working for them.

I took 2 years in High School but that was 60 years ago. And most of what we did in class was conjugate verbs. Boring. Who in the Hell needs to know how to conjugate verbs? I can't even do that in English.
 
Yup. Got both my passport book (sadly blank, but I hope to fix that!) and my REAL ID.
 
Mama and I both got our Real ID's this past year when it came time to renew our soon to expire regular drivers licenses, there was a fee for them if you were under 65 but since we're both old goats ours were free.....they are good till 2031.

it is your card you earned it so " beep " the employee as enough receptionist there leave some to be desired and get it .

As you know they need a new pic so not like you can get it online , truth is I have yet to see the benefit of new card I have heard about .

I was told you could use even SouthCom as far as PX . I tried and two armed guards with automatic weapons as 2 more stand behind a cement barricade thanked me for my service but told me I could not use a thing .

I suspect I was lucky to have left there alive , lol .

I received mine just a few days ago. I donā€™t plan to fly anywhere but I thought the day might come that I might need it to get into a federal building. Iā€™m not sure what buildings they restrict so I didnā€™t want to chance not having it.
 
Yes, I had my TX driver's license renewed a couple of years ago and I have the Real Id "star" on it. TX implemented this a while back.
