Do you have an "at home" wardrobe?

Stretchy things and tees or sweat shirts and sweat pants in the cooler months. Stretchy shorts and teas or casual shorts and tops in the warmer months.

This is a touchy issue with me right now. My wife told me that I need to get rid of anything more than 3 years old. So, I asked her what about her things and she asked me “Like what?” I told her we should start with shoes. I counted 88 pairs of shoes. Are you kidding me? Who in the world besides maybe a movie star has 88 pairs of shoes.
errrm...I"m no movie star but up until recently when I donated 2 boxes of shoes , I had close to that amount.. I've still got about half that , mainly boots.

This may apply more to the folks who aren't retired, not sure.

I'm not, and neither is Ron, so we both have our work clothes, and then our "at home" clothes. Both of which are separate from our "going out" clothes.

My work clothes are usually just workout wear because of the often physical nature of what I do. Sometimes, it might be jeans and a casual but professional top. If I'm helping a client with an event, it could be cocktail wear, upscale casual, or even black pants/white shirt, typical wear of the staff...just depending on what I'm called on to do.

If I'm dancing, I wear my dance stuff which doesn't really look much different than what I might wear to a party or to dinner, but it's cut differently so that it moves better and is easy to dance in.

None of that is what I wear at home. Usually when I get home from work, I just change into my PJ's, which more accurately would be called lounge wear...loose pants and top with either a bed jacket or wrap. When Ron gets home, he will shower and then change into jeans and a tee and/or sweater, and his slippers usually.

On the weekends if I'm not planning to go anywhere, I'll wear sweats, sometimes leggings, with an outsized tee shirt or sweater. If we need to work on the house or the grounds, I'll usually put on my overalls and rain boots or work boots depending on the weather. If I need to run errands I'll change into upscale jeans and a nice top. If we decide to go out to dinner I'll change out that top for something more dressy, and change my sneakers for boots, shoes or sandals, again depending on the weather.

What about you?
For me, I spend 80% of my time working and the other 20% is for me. I eat, sleep, work & squeeze in the rest wherever. I have a work uniform that never changes. If I'm outside the house, jeans and t-shirt. The rest of the time is jammies.

Yes, I have clothes for sitting around the home & then I have clothes for going out. I like to dress up a bit when going out even though some people seem to wear the ugliest "slop" wear. Any old clothes that look like they "had it" I just throw away. Don't wear rags. I can afford better clothes. Guess I am lucky!

Why? I just would like to know a reason? Why do women feel the need that when they buy a new pair of shoes, they have to buy a new pocketbook?

Not all of us do, but I completely understand the sentiment. Pocketbooks aren't my thing, but jewelry and other accessories are. So when I buy a new outfit, I will always look around for earrings, necklace, scarf etc., to compliment it if I know I don't have the EXACT right thing to match it already.

Yes, you do what my wife calls, “accessorize.” Over the years, she has gone from taking a handbag to a smaller bag that only holds a few items, or she will just take what she calls a clutch. But, why so many shoes?

Ron asks me the same thing. My response to him never varies: "Why do you have so many tools?"

He has multiples of the same tool! So when he starts in on my shoes, I say "How many screwdrivers/drills/saws/hammers does one person need???? You only have two hands!"

That usually shuts him up. 😂

I counted 88 pairs of shoes.

Same boat here, Dont believe Ive owned 88 pairs in my lifetime. We down sized and the Wife STILL has 2 totes full of damn shoes she dont wear.
Im basically a jeans and Tee shirt kinda guy... Uniforms for work... one pair of dress pants and a couple nice shirts....

We had a conversation about the 88 pairs of shoes, but she now has 89. I will post a picture of them when I have more time. Anyway, if that’s what makes her happy, who am I to spoil someone’s happiness?

Summer days, shorts and a t-shirt.
Winter, cargo pants and a t-shirt, a jacket if it is cold.
Way in the back of the closet, blazer, slacks, white shirt and some ties, which I have not worn for a few years.
Been retired for 22 years, don't need to dress fancy.
