Do you have any obsessions about housework?

I do have some rules I am almost fanatical about - in a good way. The main one is about airing, I believe eliminating moisture is vital. So the bed is aired all day, the bed drawers and wardrobe doors allowed air, cupboards especially under the sink. All bed sheets bone dry before and after ironing. Towels are dried well. The bathroom door must be open all day, windows open unless very cold. It prevents mildew, moulds, dust mites and all such from taking hold. I think damp is just a bad thing for health.of course all other rooms must be aired regularly even if a window is only an inch open in cold weather, doors are open whenever possible.

Other rules - washing up is done and put away immediately, never ever left overnight no matter how late if we have guests. I will wash up at 2a.m. rather than come down to it. Front doorstep must be sponged daily and the porch must be always clean and tidy because that gives an impression to visitors. Whenever it rains I find dirt is thrown into our front door and it looks bad.

Also clothes in the washing machine must be sorted same day and of course machine and tumble dryer doors must be always open to air out - there's a good place for moulds.

So, do you have certain obsessions about keeping house?

No obsessions or rules here, in the unlikely event I had dirty dishes at 2am, I certainly wouldn’t be washing them !

The windows are always open, so, plenty of air in the place, I do like everything clean and tidy, skirting boards and corners all clean, kitchen tops all wiped down, tiles gleaming etc.

I awoke in the night at 2am, let the dogs out and while they did their thing outside
I finished washing a few random dishes that were rinsed but not washed.
Then came here and the first thing I see is "certainly wouldn't wash dishes at 2am" :giggle:
I also noticed I never logged out from yesterday. When will I ever learn?
My life has never been routine and I just roll with it. You have to when raising 4 children on your own.
We all made it in life and are close and happy. None of us sweat the small stuff.

The trouble with dishes left unwashed is they greet you first thing. Food is dried on, they are much more difficult to wash and spoil the start to the day.
