Do you have any pictures of interesting animal encounters?

I have several pictures of animals I have encountered in my life that have a personal story behind it. I am not talking about pictures of your pets, as beautiful as they may be. Maybe more along the lines of wild animal encounters or non-traditional animals as pets. maybe animals doing extraordinary things.

I will start with this picture

This was an encounter that happened a couple of years ago. We play a lot of golf and one day my tee shot landed about 4 feet off the green near a retaining wall next to a lake. That retaining wall was about 3 feet tall and that alligator was about 12 feet away. Did you know that alligators can easily climb a wall that low and can run up to 30 miles an hour for short distances? The gator was about 7-8 feet long and he looked really hungry to me. I was very careful to keep my eye of the gator while I addressed my ball.

I look forward to other people's pictures and stories.

Not funny or anything.

But when I lived in Germany, I was near a forest. When it was late at night, in the dark, I'd have to drive carefully. This was because, sometimes (often enough to worry) I'd be driving along and find Wild Boar standing in the middle of the road. They're big. And ugly. So ugly, they're cute in a weird way. But you wouldn't want to hit one in a car, because the car would lose.

No photo, but years ago while camping atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, we noticed a large goanna climbing up a tall gum tree with a rosella in its mouth. He looked pretty mean.

I had been advised that if a goanna is running towards you it is best to lie flat on the ground because they might mistake you for a tree and try to climb up. Their reptilian brain is not very bright. Their claws are pretty deadly looking so I was not eager for a close encounter of the scaly kind.

However, a couple of days later he (she?) came close as we were eating our lunch. I couldn't help myself and held out a boiled egg that I had just finished peeling. The goanna approached cautiously and very gently took the egg from my hand.

I've never forgotten that moment.
