Some people don't have them at all and some people have a few tasteful ones. Then there are those of us who even throw in a few pink flamingos.

My wife is the yard art collector we have a St. Francis feeding the birds, a bird bath that supports one of her many planting pots & a sundial. Her mother had little settings with birds, squirrels,,,etc all over her yard. I don't get into the yard work at all. Matter of fact I offered to help her weed a planter box years ago, pulled what I thought was a weed (snicker), exiled from her garden until the end of time. We live in a senior park that is a prime target of destitute druggies, they come through at night stealing benches, pedestal stands, anything they can sell on Craigslist for $5-10. Darn lil imps!

Yes Shali go wild!!! My best buddy was painting outside things long ago. I discovered stone and clay painted over beautifully. The wings of the cat and dog, even the black cat all have glittery enhancements. The duck was a rescue. They marked him down at Home Goods. Originally he was just a flat concrete color. Somebody must have dropped him a bunch of times and he was chipped up badly. Think they marked him down to $6.99. I got out my handy dandy paint box and studied some duck pattern images. I'm proud of him...

We have 2 pink flamingos on the back patio. We don't have a yard and that means no yard work. I was just thinking that a pelican would be a nice orniment.

I had a neighbor down the street from me that had a eight foot statue of the Virgin Mary on her front lawn. After many protests from neighbors the city asked her to remove it or scale it down.

Pretty large for a lawn ornament, no? Was it made out of concrete?

NM is heavily Catholic, so we have lots of statues of the Virgin Mary, St. Francis, and assorted other saints in people's gardens, but 8 feet tall is a bit on the extreme side. No wonder they complained.

I bought a very big Buddha (like the one in Fur's photo) to put in our garden/yard, but it's sitting next to the fireplace and I like it there. Guess I'll have to buy another. My husband says he'd like a tall Virgin Mary statue to stand next to it.

Remember when people used to use old bathtubs set on end as a shrine? They'd paint the inside gold or blue and put a Virgin Mary statue inside. There were a couple of them in my neighborhood when I was growing up.

That makes sense. Been looking online for a very tall Virgin Mary for a gift for hubby, but the nice ones are £400+.

Of course if he gets a tall one I'll have to get a Buddha that's just as tall. :D
