Do you have your groceries delivered?

At the moment both my wife and me are fit enough to do our own shopping. It can also be a wee bonus as you go round the store that something catches your eye so you decide to get something you never planned to. I have this fear, perhaps unfounded, that if you order online for home delivery you may not be receiving the mist fresh of certain items eg milk.

It is rare for me to receive anything that is not to my satisfaction. If so, I would let them know. They will give you a refund. The shoppers get to know you after they have been to your house a few times. So they know what I like. Walmart delivery is my favorite though. I know the store and that helps when I am ordering. I use Instacart also for the other stores as well.
In my area, delivery is different. You hardly ever get the same people except for with the full-timers driving for Amazon, UPS, etc.

I am critical about my food being fresh. Especially the produce that I buy mainly for my pet rabbit. Always get fresh items from the grocery deliveries. The shoppers want good reviews and tips and that is how they get them.

Nope. I kind of like browsing in the store to pick out what I buy. I'm not impressed with the way some of the persons act as they go through the aisles filling an order. I look at the expiration date, alternatives next to an item, and condition of the item.

I prefer to go to the store to pick out my own produce and meat. I don't often do that because I don't have a car, so I get groceries delivered both to help out me (ice cream) and my stepdaughter and her family. Once in awhile I go to the grocery with my stepdaughter, but she travels a lot with her job. I could go with her husband, but he is Speedy Gonzales in the store. He doesn't even stop to compare prices, to read nutrition labels, or to consider changing a menu plan or trying a different brand than the usual.

And now you know why I have never met a male human who is eager to go grocery shopping with me more than once.

We're exactly the same with the additional 'talent' of being able to spot a reduced sticker at 50 paces.

You can order things through the computer, but when you pull up to pick up you order you have to have a cell phone of some sort to call them and say you're there -- otherwise you'll sit in the parking lot for 44 minutes -- oh wait, Murrmurr had to anyway.

I agree with @Trade that you might get less-than-best produce etc. Not because they're particularly trying to unload it on you but that they don't take time to check dates or look for bruises. I watch the kids who load the online shopper bins and they work at top speed.
I do have a flip phone. I might upgrade some day especially when I can dump this landline which I keep due to the stepfather.

I swear Target is the worst. I've noted those young people filling the bins. I'm not impressed.

I've noticed that all over. Mark Zukerberg apologizes and promises to do better for some shady Face Book shenanigans every year or so.

I still go to the store myself, but this year I swallowed my pride and started riding one of their go-carts. It's so pleasurable, now, to be able to sit and read labels and think about meal planning at my leisure rather than grab things as fast as I can because my leg is hurting.

I never have any out of date stuff because every year, in January, I make it a point to use up every last thing in my pantry, and refrigerator, freezer, clean it and start over.

That is such a good idea Della!

We used to get our groceries delivered, but stopped when we moved. I feel like the quality was okay. But there were tips and delivery fees. And they don't give you the special in store sales.

Our old place was a third floor condo with no elevator. We moved because my husband could not do stairs anymore. Now we have an apartment in a building with an elevator. And a grocery store very close by. We have a big bag with wheels we load the groceries in. Then we just wheel it home.

My husband is at the point where he can't walk too far, but his doctor encourages him to try to walk a little. The grocery store gives him a short walk without being too far.

I got the Walmart delivery service where the employee can come into the house if you choose. I don't use that. They don't come in my house.

The part of that service I like is that it's tip free. There's no way in the system to give a tip and it's advertised as tip free. I save more in tips by almost triple than I pay for the service.

The service has also been better with Walmart employees since they tell you the name of the person and they're accountable. I can use the Door Dash delivery service from Walmart too with my subscription but I've gotten poor service from that before. That part does require a tip, another reason I don't use it.

Walmart's stuff has been fresh with generally no dented cans.

Target is another story, dented cans and out of date stuff. But the delivery can be good from Target, depending on who you get. If you do it often enough, you can pick the preferred delivery person. But tipping there can get really expensive.

I have ours delivered now, plus I have those meals from a couple of places like Silver Cuisine, etc delivered too. They told me not to drive any more since I'm a little out of the legal vision limit. I'm considered a road hazard now  It's a little expensive, but since I no longer have car and car insurance upkeep it evens out.
