Riding on a manually operated elevator. There was a person who sat on a stool and operated the elevator.
They would call out the floors and when you reached a floor they would open an expanding gate.

In Fort Worth in the 1960's living near Carswell Air Force Base and the B-52's taking off and landing alot. They were Vietnam bound and those things shook the house. We got used to it.

lol...Pappy... I'm almost 71 and even I haven't heard those sounds in my childhood....

we still have them all the time.. they're everywere in the UK.. they plays various tunes but mostly...... Yankee doodle Dandy
