Do you include your name in your voicemail greeting?

My voicemail greeting used to say "You have reached the voicemail service for (my name here). Please record your message after the tone."

I get too many sales and spam calls, so I changed it to say "The wireless caller you dialed cannot be reached at this time. Please record a message after the tone."
 

I couldn't remember my greeting but a few months ago I got wondering if I had included my name since I was using my phone for work when I first got it.
Luckily I don't mention my name. I get a couple spam calls a day but I don't get many messages left.

What a great story this is to share.

I had to get a new phone when 5G became the new standard. My old 4G phone wouldn't connect anymore.

Now I've recently watched a video that says basically that 5G didn't live up to hype at all.
 
Thanks for your answers. I wish I had never stated my name, but I felt if I missed a call from someone like a doctor's office, they might not leave a message if they weren't sure whose voicemail they had reached. Anyway, I can always check missed calls and call them back if they don't leave a message.

I save important numbers like the Dr's office to my contacts with the name of the practice. So that name shows as calling instead of just a phone number.

I don't have a land line....only a cell phone. I don't know if today's landline phone offer the same features as cell phones.

I don't have a landline either. Yes, the doctor is in my contacts, but sometimes I may not catch the call in time before it goes to VM.
 
No! I never add my name to my voice recording . Then scammers have got all the information they need to sell it to others or use it to scam me. The only thing my voice mail says is that I’m not there and to please leave a message. I get very very few calls which is exactly what I want.

No. I just use whatever default greeting the device has. People should know who they're calling
Sometimes I answer a call, not knowing for sure if it's a legit call or not and the calling party just jumps right in with some kind of spiel
At that point I ask the caller, "Who would you like to speak with?"
If they can't say my name, I hang up.

It still works, most people under fifty need dialling lessons.

In that case, instead of leaving your name, leave your phone number. They can verify it as the number they wanna call before they leave a message.

Yea mine is something like that. But I also add, " . . . message after the tone, unless you are a telemarketer, then don't bother."

I love that! I never answer my phone if I don't recognize the number, but in years past, when I did answer it, if I heard the short delay that usually meant it was a telemarketer using some sort of computerized system, I'd hang up right away.

I don't think many people listen to their messages anymore. I leave a message, and the person calls me back and from what they say, it's obvious they haven't listened to my message. They are just returning a missed call.
