Do You Just Sit Outside for a While Now and Then?

You can take supplement and still avoid wrinkles.

This is the view from my balcony. I had it enclosed so I can use it almost year round except for a few months in the winter. One whole side is glass and all the windows can be opened. I usually start the day sitting out there for a couple hours, drinking my coffee and then end my day the same way. The dogs love it because that is the only place where they can see outside in my condo.

I think about that all the time.. so even if it's too hot to actually sit out... I'll go and do something in the garden for 20 minutes just to get my Vit D....ration .... ..I do take supplements as well tho' to keep me protected when I's cloudy or rainy....

While much to my doctor’s consternation I don’t wear sunscreen outside, I do always wear long sleeves, long pants and a broad brim hat. I think I have vitamin D covered as it is added to the milk I put in my tea and on my oatmeal.

Hi, @spedini and welcome to the forum!

One of the greatest pleasures of retirement is sitting out under my tulip poplar trees, and enjoying the butterflies, birds and my cat’s antics. In the morning, there’s a cool breeze, and I can usually sit out (off and on) till almost 2 o’clock.

In theory I would like to sit on a bench outside or in my condo window-enclosed balcony, but in actuality I don't have the patience to sit on a bench, it is more enjoyable for me to soak in nature while on a walk. And most of my use of my balcony has been for activities that require a lot of air (painting a small piece of furniture, or drying a shampoo'ed chair).

My neighbor sits in her balcony every day (she told me). Judging from people here whose cats I've fed while they are on vacation, their balconies are well-used by cats, generally set up with nice cat-tree furniture and beds.

the problem of living in the Northern Hemisphere is the lack of natual daily Vit D for many.

here in the South it's fine in the summer.. but the rest of the UK not....

No. Sitting outside near the 4-plex 2-story old condo I live at within many buildings would be awkward. There are also no natural areas within blocks of where I live. That noted, as a long time nature enthusiast and landscape photographer, I get plenty of time out in natural areas. And sometimes will just sit quietly for long periods within such places while waiting for light to improve on subjects. Landscape and nature photography forces one to focus strongly on the visual and visceral sense world. After years, one can become significantly more perceptive in all ways.

I worked the above image this April 2025 at the North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve. Sony a6700 with 30mm lens, focus bracket blended, downsized for web from a 4150 by 6100 original.

This is why we moved to this house.
I remembered watching a lady sitting and reading on her front porch every day while I walked my dogs around the lake.
This house has a screened porch in the front and another one in the back. We have ceiling fans to move the air.
Right now, I find it too hot to sit out there, but my husband and the cats enjoy it all year.

Im one of the odd ones. I dont sit outside. I find it boring to just sit out there.
If its nice enuf to be outside then Im working in the flower beds or doing one of my projects.

I dont like the heat. So if its hot Im inside. I cant wait till fall is finally here..
Love it when it gets nippy and I do mulch and yard cleanup in comfort.
The husband did like to sit on the patio and smoke his cigars and supervise.
