Do You Know That Great Story Teller

Have you listened to someone relate a story and wonder how you missed this version since you were there too?

Some people are just great storytellers, facts be d*mned. Many believe what they’re telling.

Yesterday my DD & her kids and I had a group phone call to clarify a story that my ex-SIL/their aunt told them. It was quite the story based remotely on facts. I was there, she wasn’t. She loves to control the conversations. There’s no point in trying to correct her, she doesn’t hear.

Been told I tell some pretty good stories. Not on the Gary O' level mind you, but pretty good nevertheless.

Any good story is worth elaborating on in my opinion.....

It's always good to have a version of the truth
.....and to not have yer wife within earshot when telling it

My grands always ask me to tell 'em a story
A scary one 'make it really scary'

So

I dim the lights

and proceed (rather s-l-o-w-l-y)

The simpler the scary story, the better (their imaginations run ahead)

They never let me finish
Some keep looking behind themselves (I love it when they do that)

But, they end up never wanting to go to bed, either

Story telling

I've been in the room of some very good ones.

Noticed something

They paint a word picture
Adjectives......yes.....but just enough
Like an impressionist painter...short but visible brush strokes
Too many descriptive words and the listener (or reader) gets lost...even disinterested.
But, enough, just enough, to give the listener a vision, to hear them say
'I was there, I saw it all'.......good story

Doesn't hurt to use humor here and there
