Do You Know Where Your Surname Comes From

My maiden name (Dad's family) isn't in that database ?? .. a common Italian surname.
.... but they are from Southern Italy, and I do have ancestry records.

My married surname, of the last 60 years, is there though.

My surname is not in the all knowing database.

But my father was told by a pharmacist, who noticed the name on a prescription, that our name is from the Alsace-Lorraine region of France.
That was back in the 1950s when a pharmacist knew stuff. LOL

My mother's parents were from Abruzzi in Italy.

That one has my married name but not my maiden name. The former I've known since we got married.

Maiden name had an interesting story which I found within Genealogy websites. So, I'm familiar with the history. Due to adoption papers for one relative being stuck within the law of "Don't Tell". I've never found the original surname of paternal grandmother. I gave up after 6 years from her passing.

Thanks for the link!

I have a fairly rare surname. It appears that when my ancestors entered the US at Ellis Island, 100+ years ago, the authorities misspelled their name on the paperwork, and that spelling has been passed down to all of us since.

Gaer: Don't know much about it, except it's Irish/Welsh/Scottish.
I KNEW IT! I was told my whole life I was the purest Norwegian
that ever was and i KNEW there was a little "ornery" mixed in!
Not till I got Ancestry.com did I find out the truth of things!
haha! I LOVE being Welsh/Irish! This explains a lot!
