Do you like...and did you keep Windows 10?

Did you keep...and do you like the new Windows 10? .... I resent it downloading without my permission... I really miss my "7"... Maybe I'm just not giving "10" a chance...Could I have your opinions??? I had a horrible time trying to figure it out today...but at least could bring up some sites... I'm not a tech genius.... apparently!

Bettyann, something is wrong with the way your post is coming through and showing up on the forum; maybe it's the Windows 10 thing.

No, I do not want to convert to Windows 10, and have so far refused to do so. I get these little "reminder" things that say it will download unless you hit the "don't download " selection, which I always do. So far, it hasn't tried to take over.

Son of Perdition, on this forum, knows a lot about this stuff and has offered advice to people on here. Why don't you drop him a PM and ask him what you can do.

Also, try looking in a search for a Window's 10 tutorial that will teach you about it. Best of luck to you with it.

When I had a Windows laptop it kept getting messages asking when I wanted to install Windows 10. I finally clicked INSTALL or download or whatever ... and then got a message saying Windows 10 couldn't be installed!?!

Now I have a Chromebook and it never asks me anything. It never takes time off to update things. I just open it up and it is ready to work! Or play. :)

I finally installed Win 10. Got tired of the all the pop up reminders. Suprisingly I find it faster and smoother than the 8.1 I was running. Have not explored it. Do know that the browser they try to have you use is impossible and very Micky Mouse basic. Stuck with my Mozilla and Chrome browsers.

I installed it by choice and I like it. Like Nona, my browser is Mozilla. I haven't had any problems (one bug at first, resolved with a phone call) but I started with Windows 8.5 and my computer was not quite a year old.

I'm still hitting ignore every time the Windows 10 query pops up but I'm sure it is just a matter of time before it takes matters into it's own hands. I like Windows 7 that I have just fine and dread having to relearn how to use everything.

I installed W10 about 5 or 6 months ago, and after a small amount of "trial and error" learning, I am quite satisfied with it. It does everything W7 did, and has some newer features that I kind of like. If I read the reports correctly, W10 will begin to upgrade automatically for current W7/W8 users, so I would think it prudent to do the upgrade when you have some free time....rather than waking up one day to a whole new operating system unexpectedly.

Thanks for the endorsement but I should clarify the mis-conception you have about me. Win 10 is a mystery to me since my hopefully last training was with 7, I was mainly support for the UNIX/Linux users within our company. In addition we had a Windows team & a Mac team. I did off shift support specializing with hardware, networking & UNIX/Linux support. If a user had MS app problems that I couldn't support I had to conference in a Windows team member. We had 17,000 employees working with desktops, laptops, workstations,,,etc.

That being said I am sure that there are many forum members that are better versed to help with any MS issues. There are also forum members here who are using & proficient with Linux (tnthomas comes to mind) or Mac. I can help with most Linux issues or at least can point them in the right direction.

I personally LOVE Windows 10. I also use 7 on my work desktop and i love that as well. I think i love 10 more though. I was ok with 8 and think 10 really polished it up just right. :D

Oops! Sorry. I knew you were an advocate of Linux, but I guess I wrongly thought you knew all about Windows, too.

Like others said, set aside some time to tweak Win 10 when/if you get it. I've got mine set up almost exactly like Win 7. The main thing I wanted to change---it was set up more for touch screen use, and I prefer a mouse.

I'm using Windows 10 now. I downloaded it twice and twice I rolled back to 7. On the third go, I thought i would give it a darned good try.

It's not too bad - just have to get used to it.

As NancyNGA said, you just have to tweak it a bit to get what you want.

All turned out well.... I really intensely disliked "10" ... and it took me only 7 minutes to uninstall it and get my Beloved "7" back! :D I know some people really like "10" and that's great....

This happened to me once before about 'all the duplicate posts'...when I click on to post...it comes through that it DIDN'T post... so I kept trying...and only ended up with all those annoying posts. I WILL solemnly promise to remember NEXT time I post anything to ignore the msg that it didn't post...and will simply check... And then once you post something there is NO deleting it...that is one that I really dislike about this site...So, just gotta be careful! Thanks everyone, for your replies!! :love_heart:

Still enjoying my Windows 7 and luckily haven't been bugged with any pop-ups demanding Windows 10 upgrade. Hope I never do, if it ain't broke don't fix it! :playful:

Bettyann, I discovered that if I really want to delete a post I've made, I can hit the edit button and then go in and just backspace over the text, and then hit "save." It leaves you with an empty post box, but at least I can get rid of something I've posted in error or that I've discovered is stupid.
