Do you like food/enjoy eating?

I guess that might come across as a weird question, but I know people for whom eating is just a necessary function with no particular enjoyment attached to it. They eat to live, rather than living to eat. While I eat to live too, I sure LOVE to eat!

I am SUCH a foodie!!! I really enjoy eating, I enjoy food of all kinds and ethnicities, I'm never afraid to try new foods and new tastes, there is very little I don't like or won't eat. I look forward to mealtimes, whether it's just a simple meal at home or choosing which restaurant to go to.

I really enjoy home cooked food, especially when we go to someone else's house to eat....I get such a kick out of seeing and tasting the way others prepare the same food items I do, but in different ways.

Because I enjoy eating so much, I have to be very mindful about what I eat and when because since menopause, the days of eating as much and whatever I like are over. I take food to work with me every day, and it's very simple, low/no carb meals and snacks....poached chicken and a salad, broiled fish and steamed veggies, almonds, string cheese, carrot sticks, greek yogurt etc. I might have a fried egg or half an avocado for breakfast.

When Ron or I make dinner it's usually some kind of meat and veggie side, though I also fix a carbohydrate for Ron...baked potato, brown rice, pasta, because he has NO problems with his metabolism and burns through food at a really fast rate.

What about you? Do you like food?

I do enjoy food greatly and I love to cook and prepare new recipes and even invent my own. But I don't live to eat either. And, thankfully, I don't look like I love to eat. ;)

Exactly! Even though I am such an avid foodie, I also don’t look like it. But that’s only because I work so hard at eating mindfully, and planning my indulgences!

I struggle with my main meals at home but love to go out and have a good nosh especially on a Sunday. I go solo or with friends and tuck into a three course meal like I did today.

A starter of patè and toast and side salad.
Roast pork with all the traditional trimmings. A fresh strawberry merigne glacè with ice cream Delicious!

Yes, I like food and eating. I try to be careful with what I eat now for health reasons. I'm doing pretty good eating things better for my health. That occasional pizza still happens time to time and a sweet treat at times, too.

I, too, like to try new foods but don't like many fish dishes. Just not a fish person but will have it once in a blue moon.

I just had hummus and pretzel chips for lunch. Love that hummus!

I was a vegetarian for 10 years but not any longer. I am trying to eat more veggie type foods now a days but still have small amounts of meat and poultry.

There is nothing I enjoy more than eating - especially what I can't have, because of diabetes & also because I don't want to put back the weight I lost.
When I tell friends that I like food more than anything, they'll ask, "What do you mean....what about sex?"
I say, "Well, yeah....I enjoy sex, but only because it makes me hungry."

I was reminded of an episode years ago of Martha Stewart's show years ago. Barry Manilow was a guest. She was trying to get him interested in learning to make a certain dish. He said something I've never heard anyone say.
He said, "I hate food. I hate looking at food, I hate smelling food, I hate eating food."
She was determined to make something he would like. She made a really fancy sandwich. He said it was "OK" but it looked like he was just being nice. Then he sang a couple of songs.

@Ruthanne I don't think it's bad to indulge every now and again. I know for me, if I can't occasionally have a forbidden food, whether it's pizza or pasta or a sweet treat of some kind I will just binge and make things a whole lot worse.

I'm staying very low carb, but Ron isn't, so I'll make dinner of chicken and veggies and/or a salad, which we'll both eat, but I'll also bake a potato for Ron, or make him rice or pasta.....and then sneak a bite or two off his plate! ;)

Do you like shellfish Ruthanne? I eat fish frequently because it's healthy, and I like it OK, and salmon and Tuna steaks I really enjoy. But man, I LOVE shellfish!!! I could eat shrimp, lobster, crab and clams all day long!!!

I like good food, my husband is a real foodie and a good chef too. He prepares a lot of dishes for us at home. He stays slim no matter what he eats, and I blow up like a balloon. I have my holiday weight on right now and need to start thinking about cutting back and losing some added pounds.

Problem is, now that I'm older, losing weight is easier said than done. I don't have much spare time to devote to exercise or gyms right now, but I do take the dog out daily to walk for around an hour. I will start to watch my portions and cut out some desserts in the weeks ahead, and hope to get things in control again.

Yes I do love like shrimp and lobster a lot but I rarely eat them.

I love to eat and I’m not the type just to eat to live. I love well prepared food and am (if I may say so) a great cook due to my years of practice and having a husband with a figuratively hollow leg! My specialities include roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, beef stroganoff with extra wide egg noodles, sweet-and-sour chicken served with rice and potstickers, chicken with wine sauce, lasagna, and a host of other goodies! I also enjoy baking pies and cakes and my special cake is a cherry torte with vanilla cake, chocolate pudding filling, cherries, whipped cream with chocolate shavings on top, delicious! I also enjoy baking Dutch apple pie and chocolate cream pie. Unfortunately over the years I have gained weight and had to limit myself to 1400 cal a day to keep it off so I’m very particular about each calorie and strive to use them wisely… I’m now a normal weight and feel very healthy.

I cook what I fancy --no set meals in our home --
iam not a keen cook but I can 'rather eat than cook
dont like any veggie stuff'like good wholesome food- but enjoy a god mixed salad.

I enjoy winter foods- dumplin casserols ...pot roasts.

That sounds a lot like my husband`s boss. Although,I won`t go as far as to say he "hates" food,he cares nothing about it. Rarely eats because he doesn`t even think about it and says he does not feel hunger. He is very, very thin. My husband has taken to ordering him sandwiches from the deli,or pizza,or burgers-anything to make him eat a meal-mostly to try to keep him healthy. He gets sick A LOT-in spite of the fact that he takes lots of vitamins. He is young enough to be my hubby`s son (barely) and he jokingly calls hubby "the father I never wanted" lol. But he does always eat whatever he brings him.

As for me,I love food, love to eat and love to cook. Luckily,I have a small stomach and can`t really overeat because if I could,I most certainly would!

I can't imagine anyone, who does not love to eat. It's not like we have a choice.
my husband is one. He's never enjoyed food anyway all his life, and he went from being a meat eater to a pescatarian and then ultimately to a vegan diet... .. but now he's lost his sense of taste and smell food is just a means' to survive to him, and often he doesn't eat at all just relying on a protein drink

I love to eat..not eat to live. However, I try to eat healthy. I enjoy trying different recipes. Hubby enjoy my cooking and at times, he cooks as well. Whenever we have Salmon or Trout he cooks, that is his specialty. He also make great parmesan chicken...so do I. We both enjoy watching Beat Bobby Flay. We also enjoy eating out..trying different restaurants.
