Do you like loud hard rock?

I liked hard rock when I was much younger but now I barely tolerate it.
Every summer the music festivals in American cities hire loud rock bands for
entertainment because they are popular with the crowd. And ever year
I tire of these amateur bands, whose members play the guitar well enough,
and the drummer crazily pounds the drums so hard that I want to shut my ears.
The musicians say this is because of the sound system but that is only partly true.

The biggest myth of rock music-- all bands believe is that the louder the better.

And then the lead singer often yells into the mic some incomprehensible lyrics.

This is what passes for evening entertainment. Because it is supposed to be COOL.

Never cared for hard rock or the metal thing. Still love the old rock and roll music I was raised with and of course the R & B soul music. Guess I like the old stuff still as I am now "old stuff".

No. But I sure got to listen to a lot of it when my two boys were teenagers. I used to describe their music as "People beating on garbage cans with metal pipes and screaming obscenities" One of the bands was named Megadeath as I recall. I used to refer to them as Megabreath.

I like hard rock from the 70's and 80's especially. I was a rocker chic in high school, {in the 80's} with long permed hair, leather jacket and boots, and a hot rod muscle car. But I listen to a variety of music now. It just depends on my mood.

I like to crank it while I am detailing a car in my garage or driveway. Mostly though, I enjoy the 80's. But, for listening to hard rock, I prefer something like this:

Now you're talking oldman. Always liked AC/DC, Van Halen and the "Dead." The head banging stuff they can leave for the zombies. I grew up listening to old country music and it's still my favorite. God bless America and ITunes.

Pappy---My favorite band in that era was Led Zeppelin. I was a huge Jimmy Page and Robert Plant fan. I don't know what it was about their music, but I really enjoyed playing it while doing stuff around the house. I also liked the song by Nazareth, "Love Hurts."

One of my all time favorite songs! Liked it better by Nazareth than by Orbison, although I loved Roy Orbison.

Never liked it, even when I was young. I think because my parents and relatives were older, I was always drawn to music a bit older than was the norm for kids my age. I listened to top 40 radio, and that was as far as it went. Never even really liked the Beatles.
