Cold weather - what is cold? - depends on where you grew up.
Having grown up in Tasmania, the coldest I experienced was - 7C.
Someone growing up in Indianapolis might experience - 20, Born in Darwin? cold might be 11C, London? - 15.
So depending on your own circumstances, cold is relative.
I know that on the West Coast of Tasmania we often had to have the fridge open to heat the home.

I do love the winter so much. To me it is a time of beauty. The world is stripped of it's so called glory. Everything people like about spring and summer is taken away. The world in winter is filled with more time to step back and realize it's true beauty. To appreciate everything it gives us. To really see the beauty of a tree not covered in leaves. To see the snow that comes and drapes the world in pure white perfection.
To have the time to focus more on our family and friends. It is June and I am counting the days for that first cold front that makes the world slow down.

Not at all. I've lived in NC, FL and TX. I remember being sent by my company to Chicago in the late 80's to do sales calls in February. The temperature was way below Zero. I was wearing thermal underwear, warm clothing and an overcoat.

I'll take the heat during the summer but much prefer it in TX vs. FL due to the general lack of humidity.

We have a friend who lives in Chicago, sounds pretty nasty there in winter, wouldn't want to live in a place like that either. Windy and cold.....brrr.

I also have a friend who lives in Chicago, and she and her husband have just bought a house in a golfing community in South Carolina. She says she just can't take another winter there!

I liked the cold in Western Montana. It wasn't often windy, but when it would get way below zero, it was kind of an adventure. I heated mainly with wood (with electric backup), but wood was freely available, and a common source of heat in my area. We would crank up the wood stove, and watch the wood pile shrink, while being as snug as a bug in a rug. I live in Virginia now, and I don't really miss the cold. But the winters here are not all that interesting. Without the green on the trees makes it look dead, and we don't have enough snow to enjoy winter activities like skiing and sledding.

I grew up in Chicago, the cold there seemed more penetrating. I also lived in Maine for 3 years. You need to really like cold there.

I love hot summer weather. High humidity doesn't bother me if water or a/c are around.

When I moved to Boston, I liked the low humidity in summer. People were always complaining about the high humidity, but I didn't feel it. But when I went home to Atlanta and walked out the airport doors, it always felt like I walked smack into a wall of humidity.

Thought I did

Yeah, I was there with all that

Snow is pretty........for the first few weeks
Not so charming after 9 months of it

Roofs need raking

There's a Jeep under there

Coldest it got at the cabin was -37°F
Three days of that
A slight breeze will rip yer face off

Does make that fire a bit warmer (once you thaw)

Looking outa the cabin sorta keeps you inside
Doesn't keep you sane, however

But, over tropics?
I'll take it

Loved the warm ocean down south
Couldn't quite get over the evenings not cooling off

@Gary O' I have never lived in that kind of snow. The most exposure I have had is Lake Tahoe and Minnesota. The first a vacation, the second a business trip. Your cabin would be just the thing. You have to admit it is/was beautiful. Being in the warm cabin, roaring fire, Mrs. Gary making a big pot of stew or soup. Warm bread of some kind coming out of the oven.

I might tire of it but I would sure welcome the chance to get tired!!

Heh, her 'oven' was the BBQ
She said 'If it has a temp gauge, it'll bake bread'

......and that bread was gooooood

and her soup
was of the gods

Never was much on soup
But....up at the cabin?
I so looked forward to a steaming bowl of it when coming outa the cold

Everything did taste better up there
I think it was the air

I really like the cold weather best. Hot weather makes me angry at everything. I like temperatures in the 50's or 60's best. But I enjoy the cold winter with snow falling and the silence of the forest. It so quiet as well as beautiful. The only thing I like about summer is my air conditioner! :) Truthfully, the things I like about summer is flowers, birds, little critters, but not bugs.

As hot as we've had it lately, 100+ ... I really don't like the temperature to get below 50 degrees anymore.
Old age and cold weather don't work for me.. I get too many aches and pains in cold weather.

But I still love looking at pictures like @Gary O' ...

I do like winter except for the cold temps 20 degrees and lower,'bone chilling windchills
I've lived through many snowstorms inc 'Blizzard of 77' The only times I don't go outside for walks if the winds are 25 mph or higher
