Do you look forward to the weekends?

Always looking forwards to weekends... until both our son and husband both died on Saturdays.

Still hate Mondays to this day. Absolutely enjoys Wednesdays and Fridays. The others are kind of chilling out days.

This time around, been super busy dismantling old furniture getting replaced Monday, so not to bad now. It's been 6 years for son and over a year now for hubby. Getting there slowly but surely 👍
I’m so very sorry for your loss. No parent should ever outlive their children. 🙁
Losing a husband as well? 😢
Tragic.

When you go to the gym, do you work on different parts of your body on specified days, or are you what's referred to as a "gym rat" that goes to the gym and do whatever you feel like doing that day? I go 4 days a week. Monday and Tuesday, I do the lower parts and Thursday and Friday, I do the upper parts, especially with the free weights and work on my lats. I run a few times for cardio, but that has tapered off some. I can't run as far as I used to be able to run.

2 miles is about as far as I can run comfortably now. I can push 3 miles, but feel really tired and need a lot more time to decompress afterwards. I have long distance runners telling me to drink more chocolate milk after running. It helps to regain a speedier recovery after running. Have you ever heard of that?
Well M-W-F I attend an Active Aging class, which is a six station circuit which we run do for four rounds. That includes use of hand weights, balance forms, and aerobic type routines. Tues. & Thursday I do a Vinyasa Yoga class, which is a bit demanding, but fun and energizing.

I have a weight routine in my Myfitnesspal app for the machines, I've suspended that line of workout for the time being, as they tend to aggravate my Osteoarthritis too much. I don't run, and only jog short distances- don't want to tear up the ankles-knees-hips. I have an elliptical and a treadmill at home that I use 7 days a week. With a 47" flatscreen in front, I can get my steps in on either or both machines while watching Netflix.

Thanks @PeppermintPatty much appreciated.

Forgot to add, we now look forwards to Tuesday evening gathering for Archery. A fun night out.
Archery?As in bow & arrows?
When I was younger we went to summer camp for 3 weeks. While I didn’t particularly like it , I learned a lot of survival skills along with archery and I loved it.

How long have you been doing this and how did you get interested in it? Do you do it every Tuesday?

How long are the workouts on the elliptical and treadmill? What do you call a short distance?

I typically do 45 minutes per session, 2 or 3 sessions a day. I don't take note of the mileage from the machines, but I do track my steps with my Fitbit and app. I shoot for a minimum 10K steps per day(4.78 miles), usually hit 15K~20K steps when motivated.

When I was young, I looked forward to the weekend for extra sleep and also partying into the early morning hours. In retirement, it's a different story.

Technically every day is the same in that the first thing I do every morning is exercise. However, my destination is different based on the day of the week. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday I go to the park to speed walk at least 6 miles. The other three days I go to the gym mainly for strengthening and some aerobics on the stair step, elliptical and treadmill.

That’s a pretty good workout for an old man. (lol) Seriously, that’s good workout for any age.

When I was a frisky 20+ year old, I hated routines. OMG!!! the idea of doing the same thing, everyday!!!!!! NO WAY. Well , that was 60 years ago. Now, I get up do the same things, eat the same breakfast, watch the same TV shows, etc., etc., etc.,etc. I used to look forward to the weekends, but now, they mess up my routines. Do you look forward to the weekends?

I sure do, seven days a week I celebrate my weekend.

Thanks. Next door to the gym there's a martial arts studio that just opened, belongs to one of the gym members. There's a "seniors self defence" class that meets M-W-F at 8:30, before the class I go to at the gym those days. I really want to attend that, and friends that do say I'd like it. I'm still deciding, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

My work schedule pretty much dictates what I do and when. Most weeks I'm off on Monday and Thursday. One Monday a month there's inventory so I have to work that Monday; then I'm off either on Sunday and Thursday or Tuesday and Thursday. Ho hum. It's still a routine. Meh. Makes no difference to me. The days are all pretty much the same.

As for exercise, I don't go anywhere else for exercise because I get all the walking, reaching, stretching and weight-lifting anybody could possibly need at work. I figure five other days of exercise cover the two days I'm off.

I think more seniors and females should learn self defense. It only takes a few moves to give yourself a chance to escape. I tell all my senior friends, if you’re not going to do anything else carry some pepper spray. You can buy it at at Walmart.

I try to show the men in our poker club how to escape the rear choke hold. That’s the move that’s mostly used on seniors.

No, since I've retired I don't like the weekends at all. More traffic on the roads, more people in the parks, more crowds in the stores and parking lots,, TV shows nothing but boring sports like golf and infomercials, etc. I prefer the more quiet and uncrowded weekdays. Looking forward to tomorrow, LOL.

NO! Personally, I'm an atheist but am NOT against religion! I always appreciate a true, authentic believer. Love Joel. Love beginning the week with him.
I actually really like the guy also. He’s so full of positive energy, one can’t help feeling inspired after listening to him. I’m far more open to positive change by merely changing my mind about my circumstances. A positive and open mind to having good things come your way including peace is proving effective for me.
I’m happy to know you listen to Joel Osteen. 👍Good stuff.

These are my reasons. There’s more people out and about on the weekends since most are working during the weekday so I like to go out then and shop while they’re not.
I even prefer the winter where I live since it’s far quieter. Yayyy mondays. 😊

Weekends should only matter to the few m-f WORKING seniors. Otherwise as a retired senior, every day I wake up is Saturday.

Is the OP an actual SSA aged senior retired from work?

As many have said, in retirement weekends are just another day. The thing I disliked when working was that crushing feeling that began to descend as Sunday evening rolled around. It's not that I disliked going to work (at least not until the end), but the weight of work responsibilities just settled in like a dark cloud on Sunday evenings. I don't miss that one bit.
