Do you make a lot of spelling mistakes?

Not normally....but I've got a keyboard which is only about 6 months old.. and it's terrible. It misses letters, it's slow to react... and I have long nails which doesn't help either.. so yes until I attach a different keyboard to my computer ..I'll be struggling with this

The keyboard might need an internal clean?

it's pretty new... it's really been doing it since I bought it, should have sent it back really.

I have a Mac, desktop.. and I just don't like the flat white keyboard that comes with it or the Mac Mouse ... so I change the keyboards and mice to something more substantial but this one isn't good.. even the letters are starting to fade already

Mac keyboard and mouse couldn't be any worse!! .... they put no effort into them for some reason.

Since I need large print keyboard for my Mac, (my sorry eyesight) , I bought a VisiKey keyboard.

I'm not good at spelling and grammar, so if I'm going to post anything kind of lengthy, I wite it on a Word document first, Word corrects my mistakes, and then I copy and paste it here. I've had a couple of "streams of consciousness" posts deleted from SF, so I make sure Word also highlights any swearing, and I clean that up too.

No and if I have a word I misspell more than once, I put it on a document and try to remember how to spell it correctly. There are certain words I have always had trouble with. One is aluminum and the other is feminine.

If I see a mistake in something I have posted, I usually go back and fix it.

Safari fixes my typos. I just expect it and if/when I don’t pay attention, the fix may be a totally different word.

IRL, my spelling has gone somewhere in a hand basket.

No. I still make mistakes and typos but write often enough that can do so with few errors. Given computer spelling and grammar correction tools, fixing errors is not only trivial but over time helps the writer improve. But then I spent decades in an electronic hardware career that at times included improving product documentation of engineers and writing complex test procedures.

These "flat" keyboards that come with most PC's and laptops, etc., don't work very well for my old hands. I switched to a nice big "ergonomic" keyboard 3 or 4 years ago, and that helps quite a bit. Plus, if I misspell a word, it is underlined in red, and if I "right click" on the word, the correct spelling comes up, and when I click on the correct spelling, it is inserted.

I've always been an excellent speller but lately, I do believe that I am developing a sort of dyslexia .... or maybe it's just that my fingers on the tangent board are not as dexterous as they once were. Certain words such as "you" becomes "yuo" and "that" (very often!) becomes taht". I have also noticed that I occasionally leave out prepositions and when I do a quick proof-read I don't notice the mistake so I hit the send button only to realize later what I've done and have to go back and try to edit it.

I got an ergonomic keyboard a few years ago, too. It's a much more comfortable position to type. I can barely type on my wife's laptop. It just feels awkward as hell.

That's happening to me a lot, too. It does seem to be a loss of dexterity. I can say with certainty that it isn't because I type too fast.

Only on my damn iPhone because I can't hit the right keys, and then it spells a completely different word and inserts it.

But the positive of the iPhone is that I am constantly in Wordscapes, so that helps me to continue to spell correctly. I would highly recommend it. It actually can help you learn some new words as well.
