It’s no big deal to do this..
Maybe that is because the Americans you meet are well traveled. My confidence varies depending on the comfort of a given situation.I wonder if it's the difference between the UK and the US & Canada..
American people are very confident generally speaking.. whereas the opposite is the case in the UK...
Not to say we're all shrinking violets, that's definitely not the case.. but we don't have that easy confidence that Americans are well known for..
I agree with Hols. Cafes = okay but actual restaurants I'd rather not.I have to admit it's not my favourite thing to do alone... I can more easily eat in a cafe alone.. but somehow in a restaurant I always feel conspicuous when I'm on my own..
