No, and also:

Breaking an LED light bulb will not spew out any harmful toxins. I’d be much more worried about CFL & florescent tubes.

CFLs didn't deliver on the promise of longevity, IMO. Not to mention: you practically have to go with Level 3 HAZMAT clean up protocol if you break one of them.

When LEDs hit the market I replaced every incandescent, and immediately noticed a significant drop in our electric bill. I have also replaced fluorescent tubes in the garage and kitchen with LEDs. Their long life is a blessing.

It seemed, too, that if it was a fixture that you turned on/off a lot this *really* affected longevity to the negative.

I believe so. The CFLs didn't seem to have as good a life as incandescents, IMO.

In April 2022, the current administration and the Department of Energy implemented new standards that ban the manufacturing of most traditional incandescent light bulbs past July of 2022, and prohibits selling them past February of 2023.

Why would they ban the selling of these light bulbs? Why not just introduce others and let people decide what suits them best rather than taking their options away??

A 60W incandescent bulbs consumes just that, 60W
A 60W LED light bulb consumes only 12W but puts out the same amount of light, maybe even more.
That's a BIG savings and reduces our consumption of fossil fuels significantly.

People that don't like LED light bulbs should check what color rating they have. I cannot tell the difference between an incandescent & a LED light rated as warm light. I don't like the natural or cold white ratings. LED color Temperature

I haven't had any problems with LED lights. Along with saving money, they've no doubt prevented fires since they don't get hot.

These LED computer monitors are a godsend. I used to get bad eye floaters and sometimes just see white like snow-blindness with the old CRT monitors.

Troglodytes and luddites can go back to using gas lamps for all I care.

Several years ago the powers that be, in setting policy for cutting down on greenhouse gasses, banned their sale because the science said 1. they do not last as long, 2. they generate a large amount of heat, 3. use much more electricity than other forms of light bulbs. 2700K is good for a warm-feeling house; 3000K is acceptable.

Both are easy to find.

Still, my preference is a Soft White GE incandescent.

No I don't because I have almost 4 dozen of them. Due to another thread here a while back in which members mentioned they had stocked up on incandescents, I made it my mission to do so as well. I used to get them from Dollar Tree but they stopped selling them and I found they weren't readily available elsewhere, except at Home Depot, which sells a few brands. My grandson took me there and I got a box of 16. I decided to go back at a later time and picked up 2 more boxes.

The problem with LEDs is that they flicker in lights that have dimmer switches, which I have in my living/dining area ceiling fan, hallway ceiling fan and bedroom lamp. I like to dim the lights sometimes and it had become quite annoying. I felt relieved when I got my stock of incandescents. I have plenty of LEDs to use in my other light fixtures.

Comparing electric bills I'd say it comes out somewhat less expensive per month with the leds, but having to replace those bulbs eats up any savings to the point that it actually costs me more if I compare total usage and costs.
I like that the bulbs are much cooler, especially in the summer, just wish they'd last half as long as promised.

I'm not seeing this type of failure rate with the common 60/70/100w equivalents. They have been very long lasting.

I have had two anomalous failures, and these show up either immediately or with a month. The LED bulb flickers, almost like an incandescent bulb with a failing filament.

They will last this way for a long time, but you'll get p****ed and get rid of them. I experimented briefly on the second: tightened, took it out, retightened. I wondered about the base and so swapped out the LED that flickered immediately, with not other change. No problem with the new one.

Gee, now I'm feeling nervous looking at this computer screen. Ah, I've turned on the night setting. Ugh, I don't like this but if it avoids going blind any sooner than necessary then I could try suffering with it a little bit. My mom had that degeneration stuff tho and I don't know how much LED light she was exposed to, I wouldn't think very much, I thought sunlight was the big risk for it and I do try to use blue blocking sunglasses when I drive (sometimes).

Just up at the hardware store looking for any old incandescent light bulbs. They are no more. Couldn't find them.
The government now has banned the manufacture of the incandescent light bulbs for more "energy efficient" bulbs.

LED light bulbs cause irreversible damage to the eye retina, particularly the macula, in the center of the eye.
They also have neurotoxins as lead and arsenic, in the event of breakage, but this is secondary to the
"macular degeneration" and other damage this may cause in elder eyesight.

Remember the movie "Peggy Sue" where she went to visit her grandparents?
Remember the soft, sweet, romantic ambiance around the room from the old light bulbs?
And, they cast a beautiful glow, radiating a lovely gentle light enhancing everything.
They were soft on the eyesight and did not cause damage to the eye.

Yes!!! I was just talking about this! I think it is horrible that they are not selling them anymore! LED lights hurts the eyes. Those are the same lights that cell phones and computers use, and remember all of the reports about how damaging the lights from cell phones and computers are? Now all of those reports have disappeared and they are now selling only LED lights. It's like they are deliberately trying to hurt people. It's insane. I won't use LED lights, when I cqn no longer find incandescent or CFL or some other kind of light, I will use candles before I use LED. They are making things worse, not better. LED lights give me a headache and white spots.

Many people have issues with migraines when in LED light. My daughter is one. From a site explaining it:
"But what you might not know is that LED lights can cause migraines and headaches. The reason for this is that LEDs emit short wave, high energy, blue light. This type of light is known to cause headaches, migraines, eye strain and fatigue."

Yes they do!! They give me a headache and makes me see white spots! I have very good eye sight, I have never needed glasses, and until I used LED lights, I never had any problems with my eyes or head aches. As soon as I figured out that's where it was coming from, I got rid of the LED lights and now head aches are gone and no white spots. I don't want those bulbs to ruin my eyes!
